J&G Sales has them for $299 NIB. Their catalog makes some nebulous reference to the genesis of these pistols -- that they were made on spec for someone in the US, then the deal fell through -- ?? What's the story behind the CZ-40P?

And I'd also like to hear from any owners out there. My shooting buddy has a CZ-75B that's simply the most accurate stock pistol in either of our collections, so I'm predisposed to like CZs...

Actually, the 40P is CZ's frankengun to get rid of the left over Colt designed parts. The 40B" is the Colt gun, the P just used the remaining slides on a PO1 like frame. Its a shame they quit making the B IMO...but its my carry gun so Im biased...........:neener:
Shoot well.

What are the dimensions of the 40P? Neat looking gun. Does CZ make flush fitting mags for it?

As mentioned above, it the 40B top mounted to the P-01 frame. Nice size, fits the hand well and is very accurate ... at least mine seems to be. Risking being turned to toast, ProMag makes a very good mag for this pistol. I currently own 6 of them and they all are interchangeable in my P-01, my CZ 75 Compact .40 and the CZ 40P.

Its approx. 3/8" shorter than a regular 75B....almost identical to a Sig 226 for OAL and Ht. The Compact mags are flush fitting but you give up capacity.
You can use the OEM baseplate on Hi cap mags and you have the best combo.
I have a couple of extras like that for my PCR..........:D :what:
Shoot well.

I got a post card from J&G sales,the CZ40P's
are on sale for $269.99.

Wow...what a great price...

the 40p is a great gun....

atblis said it. I sold mine simply because it had too much snap for my tastes and the trigger wasn't all that great.

But I admit, for under $300 it's a good deal for what you get.

40P trigger

The trigger's pretty bad. I didn't like mine at all when I fist got it. I did some work to the trigger and shot it some more. It grows on you.
Polished some stuff up
Reduced the hammer spring (snip snip)
Put a 75B trigger in it (had one laying around from a SA conversion)

The trigger is almost tolerable. Slowly getting better the more I shoot it.

It is an accurate gun. Once I got used to it I could hit gatorade bottles at 50 yards.
