What's the most obscure handgun you've ever carried?

a 90 year old Astra 400 in 9m Largo. AKA the plumbers nightmare it is a direct blowback firing the 9mm largo round (a bit more powerful than the 9mm luger). It is a childsafe gun too, the freakin truck spring it uses is more than a lot of people can pull back on but it does fire just fine.
Oh, another quirk, it can fire all of the following rounds.
9mm largo
9mm luger/parabellum
.38 ACP
and of few more really obscure rounds and yes, it is designed to do this. Seriously, look it up, it is a strange gun indeed.

Last time I drove to my home town from the College where I live now I had a 4" S&W 500 under my driver seat, a Glock 29 10mm in my glove compartmant, an AMT .45acp Backup in my door console, a Sig P239 .40 S&W IWB on my side and in my truck my HKG3, my FAL, and an AR15. Plus, I had a few other handguns in a range bag in my trunk. Overkill? Yes, but I did intend on doing some recreational shooting back home.

Many occations more than one at a time

The most obscure would be my Frommer Stop 12 which made a good backup then there is an Itaian made in 1916 in 32ACP that is so obscure I can't remember who made it. A chineese TOK I carried as primary for years until I got my Thompson made 1911-A1, then there is the Russian Mok & the CZ52. I've even carried a Tech 22 a time or two, but I draw the line at my Buntline, 18inches of barrel is just a bit hard to hide.

Here's my 2 cents

Years ago my CCL instructor said that 75% of the class would never carry on a regular basis because of the size and weight of the weapon they chose. Fooled him!!! I've had my .32 Seecamp in my back pocket wallet holster (by Guru Dave - excellent holster) 24-7 ever since. Custom hand made Amboyna wood grips on the Seecamp. Also just bought a NAA .22 Mag 1" barrel for fun.

I am very interested in the 3" American Derringer M-1 (Waco, TX) polished & engraved or the Texas Centennial model (Cal?) - I would be very interested in a personal response from anyone who has owned one of these.

Obscure Carry?

New 44 Automag in a leather shoulder holster back in the mid 70's.

Original 45 Hardballer with Arcadia markings sent to me personally by Lee Jurras.

I currently carry a 50 GI with Crimson trace LG-301's. It isn't obscure, but it's rare as hell, and the view from the front is to die for, LITERALLY :D

Well, like Zander & Garand'06 my first new pistol, purchased in Dublin, Ga. in the summer of 1965 was the.... da! da!

25 Caliber Galesi..

Shortly thereafter I obtained my first "Pistol Toter's License" (I swear it was called that), and started carrying concealed..

In fact, here it is as we speak!

ddburg...You have a soule mate

In the seventies I did a lot of backing. I carried a Fromer Stop in .32ACP. The workmanship and functioning was wonderful.....Essex

I have carried a British Bulldog 44 as one to have around incase I needed to shoot someone that turned out to not have a weapon.Illegal I know but so is unloading into somebody carrying a knife.I also carried a T/C scout 50 only one shot and slow on the reload but let the one shot hit you.

one shot one kill

You might want to double check the law on use of deadly force in your area. Using deadly force (gun) to defend against deadly force (knife) is legal pretty much everywhere, usual conditions applying of course.

You're better off shooting a knife wielder and claiming justifiable self-defense than you are to be planting a gun which when (not if, when) discovered will more-or-less erase your claim of self-defense and leave you open for a murder charge.

Remington Rand .45acp 1911A1

I used a beat up old Remington Rand .45acp 1911a1 when I was an MP in South Korea. That 1911a1 was a hunk of junk! :cuss:

Rusty

Steyr

Gewer! Ya gotta be kiddin'! Me too...and I carried one before there was a decent source for the ammo. How? I turned the rims to size on .38 Super cases. Worked like a charm. The old thing would even feed 125-grain Silvertips.

On a deer hunt in West Texas, a Broomhandle Mauser. Under the cold weather clothes, it wasn't a quick draw proposition, but I felt comfortable w/ it. At one time, I had a badly pitted Nazi proofed PPK in .32 w/ an aluminum frame that rode to the left of my belt buckle under a Hawaiian shirt. A buddy of mine has a nickled Radom he totes.

My little Firestorm .380 is about as obscure as I've ever gone. Though I did jam a Hi-Standard Sport King in my waistband after a range trip to get it back to my apartment, as I didn't have a case for it at the time. It's difficult to look inconspicuous with a pistol in hand on a busy sidewalk, y'know?

I once had a British Webley Revolver in 455 cal, which had the barrel cut to 2", and the cylinder cut back to take 45 acp with half moon clips.

PX15
I still my "Pistol Toter's License" issued to me when I moved to GA in 1970.

I on occasion carry my Webley MkII loaded with 200gr. lead SWC 45 auto-rims instead of my normal 1911 or 2" mod.10. I also have a S&W 1917 with the barrel cut to 3 1/4" that sees use too when the weather permits the wearing of a coat.

Three Way Tossup.

As far as actual CARRY is concerned, it depends on what you consider obscure.

Colt M1917 .45
Spanish Star B in 9mm Largo
Czech CZ52

Okay, every one of them is just *ugly* but hey, you asked.

.38 Spl snubbie made by Miroku, the folks who make Browning O/U shotguns.

I bought two in the late 60s when they were sold by discounters in the South for $40something.

I sold one in Taiwan for $600 and the other one in VN for $200.
