When I size 44 Mag with a carbide die, I find it helps to lube every 5th brass or so. All I do know is it makes it a lot easier and doesn't hurt anything.
I find I need a lot less "pull" strength on the press handle if I lube my 30 carbine brass. It works without any lube but feels like I have to pull twice as hard to resize. YMMV
I lube 45 ACP occasionally, 9mm is butter smooth with a touch of lube every few rounds. 45 isn't needed but 9mm can have a lot of force due to the tapered case. I help a friend load 9mm and some of the brass from his gun is "hard" (harder than I feel it should be) to resize without lube.
