.45 ACP (G21, Cougar 8045)

7.62x54R
.303 ('43 British-made and POF [C.I.A, which is Paki.], some Prvi).
Many sellers confuse or 'mis-state' ;) the .303 British caliber as British-made origin.
.22 and x39 are my primary plinking ammo.

Traded all 1,900 rds. of Wolf .223, for 2,000 rds. of Monarch x39 via a nice young guy in south Texas (I-35), contacted via THR "Want To Trade" etc. Only sold the Mini 14 to justify buying first Lee-Enfield.

Savage .22 / Mini 30, SKS / MN 44 / LE #4 + two #5s:) .
Ammo prices/availability were a critical factor in which guns to buy.
Really too bad that Wolf/Bear/Tiger etc do not produce .303, 30-06, .308, Swiss 7.5 or 8mm, for bulk US retail at about .25/round.

Will buy surplus .303 at max. .30/rd. (+ slow shipping) if only about 5% are mis-fires.:)

Do most of you guys with x39, 30-06, .308, .303 etc have milsurp or modern military-styled guns in these calibers?

Can't speak fro "most," only me. ;)

I have a liberal mixture of both in x39s and .308, nothing in .303, and the only .30-06s I own are Garands (so I only keep mil-surp ammo on hand in that chambering, no commercial stuff).

My x39s are mil-styled. They're short to med. range SHTF/defensive (and fun :) ) pieces. I figure the high-rate of fire might be useful in those situations while extreme accuracy would not be.

The .308s and 30-06s are bolt action hunting rifles capable of excellent accuracy at long range. This is because high rate of fire isn't really a necessity at long range, while accuracy would be. Bolt action is always the most cost effective way to achieve best accuracy.

Of course the ideal is excellent accuracy combined with high rate of fire. But that's expensive and of limited practical use in a hunting, defensive or SHTF situation.
