What's your experience with non toxic, non petroleum based oils and solvents?

TW-25B is non-toxic. Its a very slippery grease. I've found the feel of this to be very good on triggers. On the rails of my bullseye gun, the slide cycles as fast as any oil that I've tried.
I haven't really found a cleaner that I care very much about. They all seem to work for me just fine.

i have tried hoppes elite gun cleaner and copper terminator, imo, they work fair, after i quit getting any kind of dirt (copper, gunpowder residue, etc.) i used hoppes no.9 bench rest, and got more copper out of the barrel. on the other hand, after getting a different gun completely clean with the no.9 br, i used the elite gun cleaner, and several patches came out dirty. so, like i said, mixed results. as for oil, ONLY regular petroleum or synthetic gun oils are ever going to be used in my guns. except if i put something into deep, extended storage, then i use S.T.P. ! That stuff sticks for YEARS! been there, done that, bought the t-shirt!

I Will Cop...

You need more guns or you need to clean them more often.
...to not making a habit of cleaning the firearms that I don't shoot but it only takes a few drops at a time of the Insight Bore Cleaner (or M-Pro-7) to clean the handguns I do shoot, particularly when cleaning them with Bore Snakes. (Arizona weather, even at the higher elevations, is fairly friendly to long-term firearm storage.)

When I do find the time to shoot centerfire rifles, I clean them with Shooter's Choice Bore Cleaner and Shooter's Choice Copper Remover, a chore that I prefer to perform outdoors.

This is a subject that interests me. Because of a chronic illness I have become extremely allergic to all man made chemical smells. This includes every kind of gun oil, multipurpose oil such as 3in1, motor oil, etc. that I have tried. This includes all gun cleaning products and household cleaning products. I have been reduced to using bear grease or olive oil on my guns. I sometimes use a little Ballistol on action parts but have to do it outside and hold the gun downwind. After searching on the Internet, a few days ago I bought something called NyOil and am waiting for it to arrive. I hope it works well and hope it has no odor. If anyone knows of other gun lubricant and cleaning products that have absolutely no chemical smell, I'd like to know about them.

I got the NyOil today. It really is odorless. I used it to oil a squeaky door hinge and it did the job. Then I used it on one of my revolvers. So far I like it.
