I carry a Glock 27 w/laser. One bad mammy jammer........

However, I bought my son a new FNH FNS-40. I used gun butter on the trigger and it is the smoothest "striker fired" pistol I have ever shot. One accurate pistol. I just bought myself one today. Holster that in a Crossbreed holster and look out dip****s..........

Rats! I can't decide ... now it's this one.

My favorite .40 is a Daewoo DH40. South Korean pistol with a tri-safety which took some getting used too. It's put together really nice, accurate and reliable.

Second runner up is my Glock 27.

My only .40 is my least favorite of my pistols. Sig 250 trigger/action just begs milking and I've never gotten used to the difference from my SAs and DA/SAs. Can't bring myself to sell it yet though.

I have fired a G22, Hi Point, S&W 40VE and Sig 2022 in .40 cal.
Of these, I like my current Sig 2022 much better than the others. I would imagine the reason I like it so much better is the single action trigger. The decocker is nice as well.
You mentioned the different view on the .40 and I fall into the group that loves them. A perfect balance of knockdown and mag capacity IMO.
You mentioned the snappy recoil as well. I know that is subjective, but my 110 pound wife handles the Sig just fine even with full throttle loads.

I have an XDm in .40. When I was trying to decide whether I wanted 9 or .45, I finally decided to compromise and go with the .40. The XDm series is a bit heavier than most other polymer pistols, and I have plenty of fun shooting it.

The reason I like the XDm, which is a feature in common with Glocks, some M&Ps, and some DAO pistols is that there is no manual safety, so I never have to worry about whether or not the safety is on.

BERETTA 96D Brigadier

I vote for the BERETTA 96D Brigadier. I carried it on duty and it shot very well and the weight and large grip area overcame the significant recoil of the 155 grain loads that my agency issued. It is also one of the most accurate pistols I have fired.

I owned a GLOCK 22 and SIG 229. I sold off both because the BERETTA shot much better and kicked less.

I have also shot the BERETTA PX4 Storm and H&K P 2000. Both are soft recoiling guns as well, in this caliber. The H&K is overpriced, though.

As a practical matter, I prefer the 9m.m. pistols loaded with +P or +P+ ammo over the .40 S&W.

Jim
