For six years i carried a Buck Odessey ATS 34 plain edge folder, I bought several others but none in ATS_34 little did i know that Buck as abandoned quality steel and had begun using 420A stainless. When i finally lost that odessey I tried like made to find another and i can not. It was a truely great knife, held an edge better than my chris reeves, my emersons, and my spyderco's. Now i keep searching to find another online somewhere.

I even inquired of Buck howmany it would take preordered to get them to restart the line on the knife. They have not taken my offer serious

I'm a big fan of the SOG Seal Pup...I carried that for a year or so in the army, before I got hurt. I sold it to a friend going overseas right before I got discharged. Fantastic knife. Holds a razor edge for a long time, is extremely strong, reasonably lightweight, and well balanced. All in all, everything I'm looking for in a fixed-blade knife.

My all-time top knife-like object is a Leatherman PST-II. Compact, lightweight, durable, and fantastically useful. If I were to be stuck on a desert island with only a single knife/tool, this would be it. Given sufficient time, I could build a house with it. Remember: When you have a Leatherman, everything becomes Leathermanipulable!

I like both the Randall #25 and #27. I have one of each on order. The estimated delivery date??...2010!!

In the mean time I have a Benchmade Axis Lock. I also carry a Frost Cutlery Keen Kutter folder for general cutting (envelopes, rope, etc.).

My favorites change alot, and I can't afford the outrageously-priced stuff, but right now mine would have to be...

for an EDC folder, my Kershaw Spec Bump in S30V blade steel (mine is not the more common 154CM one shown here).

Close second place in a folder is the CRKT "Desert Cruiser":

As for fixed blades, don't have a really good one...but I kinda like my Camillus Air Force Pilot's Survival knife. Cheap but good:

I really *want* a Swamp Rat of some flavor....now after this thread, my interest in the SOG seal pup is rekindled as well, not to mention the Gerber Applegate Fairbairn mini combat folder; thanks the hell a lot! :)

As for my favorite neck knife, well I only have one, so I guess it's my favorite - the SigTac PitBull:

As for tableware, I love my Cold Steel steak knife set:

My favorite knife is the swiss army knife my parents got me (actually in switzerland) with my name engraved on it. Other than that I don't really carry any really good knives. I would like to eventually get one, but don't have the finances now.

Gus

Those 2 are my favorites.

Favorite? For what?
EDC: Benchmade Mini-Gryptilian & SAK Soldier (Alum frame BoyScout type)
Hunting: Dawson 37 & Trapper #1 (bird & trout/caper... well I don't know about caping a trout:D ) http://www.dawsonknives.com/dawsonknives_files/Page918.htm
Camping: KaBar (had it since Boy Scout days back in the '60's)

I've got lots of other knives...and I mean a footlocker full, but those see the most use.

My Henckels 3 blade stockman, It is a far more functional tool than a tactical folder. It's easy to keep razor sharp, small and non-threatning and sutible for medium cutting to performing emergency surgery.

'bout 2,000

Anything less isn't worth their time to do. If you were wanting a mod to an existing product it would be as few as 100, prepaid.

anyone have any experience with the gerber ASEKII or something like that. can't remember exact name now. Its the new "tactical survival" mumbo jumbo knife they came out with. Any good?

At work:
Emerson CQC-8 BTS w/ Wave
Strider MTL-L w/ tan Eagle sheath & green cord wrapped handle
Benchmade Rescue Hook BT
Benchmade 175 push-dagger

At home:
Buck/Mayo TNT

In the field:
Emerson CQC-8 BTS w/ Wave
Chris Reeve Shadow IV
RMJ Tactical Eagle Talon

Finally got my Howler. :D
The other two are the Bark River mentioned before and the Becker BK71. Most of the coating was worn so I stripped it.
Picked up some micarta today to replace the desert camo slabs currently in the Becker.

My favorite knife is a Randall Model 16 Special Figher. Oh, you want the one I use all the time.... swiss army knife; currently the Locksmith, but I sometimes carry the Soldier as it is a bit more comfortable in the pocket.

Mine would have to be my machetes. I got a lightweight one all black which I practice with and then I have my real one with real wooden handle and the extra thick and heavy blade. Both blades are 18" and both are almost razor sharp.

you won't be impressed

my favorite knives are like a fine tool if they don't get used then they are useless. #1 an imperial made in providence rhode island 4" blade for filleting w/an additional blade for scaling gutting and removing deaply embedded hooks ?age atleast 15 years or more? #2 smith and wesson s.w.a.t. 4" blade half serated half reg. they both keep a fine egde w/ very little sharpening even after alot of abuse

P.S. my S&W is not one of the cheapies they sell now

I love my little Kershaw Chive for day to day use. Unlock and """Snap""" it's ready to go. Inexpensive too.

It's tough to beat the Leatherman Wave for its multiple uses, jsut to much to keep in the pocket.
