My 3 blade Stockman.
I find it far more usefull than a single blade tactical knife. It's good for light to medium cutting tasks, easy to keep razor sharp, and I have used it a few time for emergency field surgery. (removing splinters, lancing blisters, and such) The 3 blades give a variety and I can use it 3 times longer before the blade needs to be dressed again.
My favorite fixed blade knife is the Fusion Steel Heart made by Busse Combat Knife Company. 8"x1/4" blade, 14" OAL. You can see one at www.badmojo.tv (look under "new line-up").
With my Pre-Order sent on this lil beauty, I'm sure that it will quickly become a "favorite" as soon as it gets here.................................... in a few months.
Swamprat Crash Axe
I only own knives to use. I don't knife fight and don't dream about knife fighting either. And I'm not a butcher. So. IMHO, before Schrade gave up the ghost, their cliphanger series was terrific. Gerber used to make a smallish LMF that was a very good knife. I have a relatively current Gerber EVO that is not bad for the money. But the knife that rides in the pocket everyday is the Case Serpentine Stockman, with that good old school chrome vanadium steel, and a jigged bone handle. A true classic. Cuts what needs cutting. Looks good doing it, feels good in the pocket. What else is there for a pocket knife to do?
Fixed blade numero uno in the knife using kennel club around here is the Dozier Straight Personal. Big enough and small enough, tough enough and sure as hell sharp enough, easy enough to carry and safe enough too in that awesome kydex sheath that Bob provides. If I could only have one, that would be it.
I have really enjoyed this thread. I would also like to know where all these beautiful knives are coming from, how much they cost, and how good are they in the field. I have a few on the wall. My favorites look the part from usage. Sorry, I don't have a good digital camera on hand. I'm always looking for a replacement to put the old ones into retirement, though.
Right now it is my new Kikuichi damascus 4" paring knife. I carry it around all the time in anticipation of the first vicious kiwi or stalking celery that crosses my path.
I have used my Buckmaster and Gerber MkII for 15 years. As they are no longer produced, if I had to replace them now, I would look at the Cold Steel line. I keep a CRKT M-14 tanto folder in my pocket at all times.
This Knife. Ive had it for about 20 years. All I know is its made by Case, its got a 6 inch blade that i only have to sharpen once a year. I use it everyday.http://www.msnusers.com/MyStorage.msnw
