Whats your Favorite Snubbie Revolver and Why???

OF COURSE IT'S MY WIFE'S

S&W M38: a perfect glass-rod SA trigger, perfect short smooth DA, lightweight, accurate (real accurate), pocket-ready, holster-capable, enough caliber to be a serious primary, not a new "S&W".

The one currently in my pocket is my favorite

Smith and Wesson model 340SC .357 mag. Light as a feather, beautifully finished, accurate with a good trigger.

The gunsmith at my favorite gun store showed me his Colt Detective special. What a nice piece and 6 shots to boot.

I like the K-frame snubs best. They are small enough for most snub uses (except pocket carry, and for some of us we may even be able to handle it in a pocket), they offer much better recoil control, they are far more comfortable to shoot (both adding up to faster follow up shots), and they hold one more shot than a J-frame. I absolutely love my S&W 65LS (3").

I'm planning on a Taurus 450 (2", medium frame, .45lc snub) in the next several months so my favorite may change.

For a J-frame I guess I'd love to have a S&W 60LS and I also really want a Taurus 85UL (aluminum, not titanium).

Well, though they don't compare well to my S&W snubs from the 60's and 70's..

..I'd have to say that the 331 Airlite snub on my ankle and the 638 Airweight snub on my hip are my favorites of "today".
I've been thinking about giving my wife a new Ruger snub. (Maybe for Valentine's day...yeah.) An SP 101 might do. Can someone tell me if 101's come in blue steel? My wife likes Rugers and blue steel. She's quite "opinionated" about things like that. It's just that, she likes her guns the way "she likes HER guns". Know what I mean?

KR

'Used to be Ruger SP101, but I got tired of the weight.

S&W 342PD is a perfect combination of minimal weight (10.8 oz.) and adequate power (.38 Special). It's fun to shoot, points perfectly, and enables me to put practice rounds COM quite easily.

Well, I hit the "back" button and got a message saying I couldn't get back without resending info. 'Didn't know that would result in a double post....

My favorite snub(s)...

are my two 640-1 Centennials:D

Rugged, reliable, slick as a bar of soap and triggers to allow quick, precise D.A. fire.

They have just successfully escaped the hoplophobic Howard Government here and found refuge in Indiana, with my daughter.

I'll really miss them:(

My Charter Arms Bulldog in 44 special. I like it cause it carries like a J frame and hits like an O frame.:neener:

My dads 649 is a very nice gun also. I'll probly wind up with it one of these days. sp101's are very desireable too, but for the price I'd probly buy a used 4" gp100 or some such instead.

My S&W 2 1/2" 629 is my favorite snubby. It's a flamethrower.

I was out shooting yesterday in the mud trying out my dad's handloads: 240 grain bullet sitting on top of 23 grains of H110. My dad decided to try and shoot standing at a hundred yards before we left with a couple of the last handloads. The bullets were hitting around the point of aim of the fixed sights. I grabbed a couple of .44 Special Blazers, which was the only ammo left over. They hit the bottom of the 100 yard hill.

Next time I'm out I might set a couple of clay pigeons I have and try to hit them. If I don't hit 'em, I always have my M1A.

Colt Magnum Carry. DS sized with .357 punch. hard to find, I looked for a LONG time.

The Sp-101 is a great one too, but a little heavy for its size.

Here's a pic of both :neener:

hmmm

While my little M36 conceals better, I think my favorite snubbie has to be my 2" M&P. Nicer trigger, a little more heft, and grips feel better in my hand.

...MY favorite "snubbie" is a Smith Model 442...it is my current "Always" gun...as in, it's ALWAYS with me!!!...I like the 642's as well, but the WIFE commandeered the last one to come into the house and stay...BTW, KR, I don't believe that the Ruger SP's are made in blue...altho' some of the better custom 'smiths can "Blacken" Stainless to look pretty good....mikey357

S&W Model 10

Smoother action, better sights, fits the hand better than the J-frames and easier for me to shoot.

Yes, it's a touch larger and heavier but I'm willing to accomdate those disadvantages for improved performance.

Can't have just one.....

But if forced to pick only one, S&W 640 series, handy and always there. If I'm able to find smaller grips, the Detective Special will give it competition, for the same reason. The K, L, and N frames are too good to pass up.

Emotional favorite: Webley .44 Bulldog. History and Character.

Owned: S&W M-36. Very slick.

Wanted: Vintage Colt Detective Special. Best of both worlds.

Read about: Colt New Service "Fitz Special." Fitz used to carry TWO of these around in leather-lined pants pockets. He'd whip 'em out to surprise folks for the fun of it. :what:

Have two actual snubs(S&W 60 and Charter Arms )& one snub on steroids(GP100, 3"). The 60 is the easiest to conceal and the hardest to shoot with accuracy. I like the GP100, due to it's ability to soak up recoil, but it is a handful. The Charter Arms is an older('88) model Bulldog Tracker 3" barrel that shoots surprisingly well, with either .357 or .38s. The .38s are more fun of course, but this gun handles the .357 rounds better than the Smith!
If I had to choose only one, I'd keep the Smith 60, as this is the real snubby of the bunch and better quality than the CA.

"favorite" huh thats hard! I love lots o them BUT my early 60s Cobra was my Dads and it is just like the one that Jack Ruby queted Oswald with and it puts 148grain wadcuters in little bitty groups and its still 90%.:D
