Caught the network news the other night. They did a brief report on that Muslim soldier from the 101st who murdered some of his comrades in Kuwait. They said that he "threw grenades, and shot them with a rifle".
As far as I know he wasn't using some bolt action sniper rifle. I'm assuming he used an assault rifle. Given that the media is so anxious to call everything an "assault weapon" whether it is or not (ignoring the fact that this is a made up term in the first place), it seems at least somewhat ironic that given the opportunity to accurately report that someone used an actual assault weapon to commit murder, they demure.
