Project for next trip to my "arsenal" is to create good documentary evidence (photos, serial numbers, detailed listing of type, purchase date, etc), but it boils down for me at the moment to:
1 shotgun
1 .22LR bolt action rifle
1 .223 semiauto
1 "real" (.45 ACP) revolver
2 .45 ACP autopistols
1 9mm autopistol
1 .22LR autopistol
2 (identical) pump air pistols: They hit hard, are shaped like guns, are perhaps the most accurate pieces I own (in my own hands), and I can't have 'em in Philadelphia, so I'm counting 'em, durnit!
1 family heirloom revolver (the one I posted about earlier; my dad has it, but afaik it's basically part of my collection -- he has no deep interest, and I found it )
So, I count 10, and in a collection that I'm trying to keep diversified / balanced -- but mostly I count the infinite gaps instead Nothing yet in the categories of ...
- truly concealable handgun
- 1911 (though at least the Browning 9mm's a JMB design at heart ...)
- AR15 / variant
- HK91 / variant
- .40 autopistol (to justify the .40 brass I've been collecting and polishing!)
- .357 revolver (similarwise for .38 and .357 brass )
- 9mm revolver (because I like revolvers in "auto" cartridges)
- rifle in .308
- SKS / Mosin / genuine AK (to celebrate the end of the Cold War)
- autoloading shotgun (saiga12
- Anything in 9mm Makarov
- 9mm carbine (keltec sub2k?)
- CZ P-01 (or other Cz -- the P-01 is just my favorite aesthetically)
(sigh ... above is of course the tip of the iceberg.)
EDIT: Using very, very rough numbers (to the nearest $50, based on fallible personal estimates involving witchcraft, bad memory, likely fraudulent internet sales prices, projected but perhaps optimistic used -- good condition -- sales prices, etc), I think I could at least fill all of the slots in that portion of my wishlist linked above for about (warning: spurious precision ahead) $4750. Not chump change, but something to think about when my Subaru needs replacing. And I *think* that's using at least a pinch of conservativism; I'm pretty sure I could find a decent .357 police trade-in with decent guts and passable exterior for $250, for instance, and I've put $200 -- which should we well over what's *needed* -- in the SKS / Mosin category ...
