Just the frame? Most of the decent frames have fifty some parts attached. When an extra frame comes along, usually some less that honest seller puts it together, refinishes it, bangs it up slightly and tries to pass it off as '99% condition from the war'.

Seriously, you might try the GI forum over on www.1911forum.com

Tried the same thing..

looked for over a year to find a military Colt frame. No luck. Still looking.

There are aftermarket original finish frames available thru parts sources (Brownell's) & run from $80-125 IIRC

since the frame has the SN, it's considered a firearm, even if a bare frame

Start hitting the gun shows. You might find a mismatch w/ a R-R frame.
I've got a R-R slide on an Ithaca frame that looks to be an arsenal rebuild. Was thinking of finding a R-R frame but had no luck. Then thought of getting an Ithaca slide. That was much more likely. Then I just gave up all together and decided this mutt kinda has a character of its own. Good luck on your search.

I was just drooling over an all stock, LNIB with box, Remington Rand at a local gunshop today...

...only $975 that I don't have... :(

Ingersoll-Rand is a company that manufactures hoists, winches, air compressors, tools, and various construction equipment. Never heard of "Ingersal-Rand". Me thinks someone erred.
