My Marlin 782(.22 mag, bolt action) has only a grooved receiver for a scope mount. I find that every time i shoot it its lossed its zero, and I beleive that the sketchy mount is the problem. Along with that it hold the scope about 1/2" above the receiver too. I have seen some groove-to-rail adapters, like the one on the Game varmint hunter but cannot find that anywhere.

As the previous poster said, any gunshop should be able to do the trick. Where are you located? If you post that someone from your area might be able to make a good suggestion on a reputable place. If ya live in Missouri let me know.

Well, I wouldn't give up on the groove style mounting yet. My Marlin 25 MN .22 mag has held zero for years with its $25 Simmons scope and $5 Bushnell rings. The key is to de-grease the groove before mounting the rings. Also, try the $5 Bushnell vertical split rings first. They are the best kept secret in the business. Just check thier reviews at www.Midwayusa.com .

Yup, those are the rings. I forgot they were more expensive without my dealer discount. As for the dovetail to weaver adapter, heres a couple. http://www.brownells.com/aspx/ns/store/ProductDetail.aspx?p=19530&title=DOVETAIL-TO-WEAVER+ADAPTER There are also cheaper adapters available from Midway and Natchez. Try the Bushnell's first. Just be sure to clean and degrease the dovetail rail before you mount the rings.

Heres a couple pics of my little coyote killer. It's one of those guns that gets used in just about any weather condition, it aint no safe queen.

Yup, it's my old Marlin 25MN .22mag. Shoots 1 hole 7 shot groups at 50 yards and I can keep all rounds on a paper plate at 210 yards. Thats even with the pencil thin barrel! All I did was float it and it shoots super.
