EAA, colt , used s&w, used colt double action, glock. did i miss any? I'm leaning toward the glock.is the case partially unsupported?does it matter?what caliber would you compare it to in recoil ? I have a 629 44mag. but i mostly shoot 44specials out of it because i dont care for the recoil. all opinions will be appreciated. thanks .

I have a Dan Wesson Razorback and it's awesome! I'd say forget the Colt Delta or the S&W. Maybe get a Glock if you want something light, but if you want a 10mm in a accurate gun definitely a 1911. DW is best all around value, but if you can afford it get a Fusion.

I have a Colt Delta Elite. I've had no problems. Got mine new for $850. If you have big hands, the Glock 20 would also be nice. Nice thing about the glock is that you can drop in a 40 or 357 sig barrel for $100 each and have 3 calibers in one.

Kimber Eclipse II.
I don't have any experience with them, but you asked if you had left any out. If you're recoil sensitive, you probably won't like it. It's not a full throttle .44 mag, but I've heard it's pretty stout.

Witness pro carry from EAA. Inexpensive, well made, more money for ammo, and accurate and very naturally pointing (for me anyways).

I've run the same question through my noggin' quite a few times and lately have sided with the idea of a G20 SF due to the capacity and polymer frame. Though my primary use would be for hiking/trail blazing and against mountain lion or perhaps black bear, so capacity for an adrenaline botched aim and polymer frame for one less thing for sweat to rust.
I would much rather go against a 2 legged attacker than a hungry mountain lion or angry mother bear on a desolate trail, don't ask me why (as I don't know).

If I also planned on concealed carry around town, no doubt I'd be eyeing the Razorback, especially if they made a bobtail (which they very well may).

I have a Dan Wesson Razorback and I reload my own ammunition. That being said I use Power Pistol by Alliant powders, I have a #22 recoil Wolff Spring an EGW Oversized Firing Pin Stop and a Shok-Buff by Ed Brown. All these things together, with full load rounds are really no more recoil than just about any .45 I've shot.

I have four, will get others. If I could only keep one, it'd be my S&W 1006. It is the strongest and the most pleasant shooting with full power loads. Very accurate gun, too.

But with the recent upswing in 10mm popularity, 1006's in good condition have jumped up to $650-$800 on average.

Smith 1006 or Glock 20SF would be my picks, in that order. The Smith is super tough and the Glock is almost as tough and holds a bunch of rounds :).

Just my .02,
LeonCarr

Any of the mentioned models are good other than the new EAA Witness (the rounded slide top style).

The Witness are not designed to withstand the battering of full spec 10mm ammo (slide breakage, personal experience of me and others)..only "FBI lite" loads with them (the user manual is adamant about it).

On top of that add the very unfriendly EAA CS and you are in for a treat...

After the EAA lemon I got myself a used S&W 1006 and never look back...

In 10mm I have a Dan Wesson PM-7, EAA Witness and a Glock 20.

the dan wesson is awesome but i want to carry more ammo. The EAA has mag spring problems for me and you can't get a high power mag spring for 10mm EAA's like you can the EAA .45's. The Glock has been perfect.

Granted since i shoot a lot of Lead 10mm i had to buy a lone Wolf barrel which in addition to the price of the glock makes for an expensive setup if you shoot lead.

In order to save money, I tried to like the Glock, but hated it. I need to try one of the short frames and see if it fits my hand any better.

In the end, I liked the long slide 1911 in 10mm:

I don't think recoil is much heavier than .45, perhaps a tad snappier, but not unpleasant to shoot at all.

I use a Witness P in 10mm. Had problems with trigger slap and feeding certain ammo (mostly HPs). After a beefier recoil spring and mag spring from Wolf, and a bit of a break in period (about 100 rounds), I've had 0 problems. I went with the witness polymer because I hate Glocks (not just glocks, any striker DAO), and do not like revolvers, but wanted a good and lightweight handgun for woods protection as I do quite a bit of hiking here in Western Washington.

Also, don't think that stuff at the store is real 10mm. DoubleTap only for me.

Any of the mentioned models are good other than the new EAA Witness (the rounded slide top style).

Didn't they go back to the heavier square profile a little while ago?

I know the higher end Stock, Limited, etc. never suffered from the round slide poisoning.

I have an older compact and a Limited, both 10mm. They've held up just fine to my over-book 800x loads.

The EAA has mag spring problems

It's not the mag spring, it's an overly-aggressive extractor. Slight rounding on the bottom and light polishing of it will alleviate the problem.

I Love my Glock 20SF 10mm.
The Glock also gives you the versatility of shooting .40, .357 Sig, and 9x25 Dillon with just a simple barrel swap. The same magazine works for all of them.

glock 20 here. I don't have big hands, more mid-sized and it feels ok...

if you have the 15 round mags and the +2 spacer and 1 in the chamber 18 rounds of 200gr flying at your ass is hard to compare too! Thats if you live outside california you can have that much ammo! :(

I would really really really love to have a 10mm based 1911! Thats is my next NEED to get gun. Thinner grip and carries 8 with most mags. thats good for me!

Glock 20.

The EAA pistols have been plagued with many problems. The 1911's are inconsistent. Some have worked out great, others have had their problems as well.

The Glock 20 and 29 are the only currently produced 10mm's that have consistently proven they are reliable. If you can find one of the discontinued Smith 1006 series pistols they are excellent also.

The 10mm Smith revolvers are another option.
