The barrel nut is supposed to make the Dan Wesson really accurate. A versatile gun with a long and a short barrel and maybe a 4" for hiking. I was just never caught by the DW bug. I've owned Ruger, Taurus, Smith and Wesson, and Rossi. I do like that Ruger...okay, DW....grip frame design a lot, especially on the SP101 as the Hogue is simply wonderful on that gun for IWB carry and for shooting. Some would prefer the wood, I had the rubber and preferred it. Hogue offers the grips in different woods, though.
The Hogue I had on that Security Six was a hard nylon material. It was a little hard on the palm of the hand until I smoothed it out with some sand paper. First time I fired it after putting that grip on it, it cut my hand where it overlapped the grip frame. NOT cool, had two slices with blood running down the palm of my shooting hand. Yeah, I don't miss that gun. ROFL!
