HK USP40 Tactical
Beretta 96G Elite 1A

Those two guns have been excellent firearms in all aspects. However, in THIS CALIBER, not so much with my HK USPc, Browning High Power Practical, Sig P229 Platinum Elite, and CZ-75B. In most, if not all of those cases, I think the gun was designed around the 9mm and the 40SW is just a bit too much for that platform. YMMV

I have an XD-40 & a Ruger P-944. I shoot better with the XD. They are both reliable. I have shot a G-23 a couple of times & liked it too.

Smith & Wesson M&P 40

My XD-40 has served me very well, I'm approaching 4000 rounds without any gun related failure, I've had a couple of ammo related failures though. I'm very happy with it, very accurate, great fit in the hand, nice shooter.:)

selling my mp40c soon to help fund my recent emp40 purchase a couple days ago. however, for a polymer 40--M&P is the way to go.

hk's are great guns of course, but i just can't justify spending a grand on a pistol that isn't a 1911. :)

Glock 23

The Glock 23 is, in my humble opinion, the perfect carry gun. You get 14 rounds in a package that weighs a full pound less than my full size 1911 that holds five less rounds.

Bennie Hill, "fat-free" 6", built on an STI, 2011 frame.

Holds 21 rounds, and will hit quarters all day long at 25 yards.

Springfield XDm

I've had .40 cal Glocks, HK's, and SIG's in the past (still have one Glock that will run 40), but my favorite so far has been the XDm. I reaaaaally didn't like the XD's... could have been the poor trigger, brickish appearance and feel... whatever. Springfield did a helluva job with the XDm though. Points well, shoots well, feels good in the hands, been 100% reliable so far, and very accurate. I see somebody else up in the thread voted XDm as well, so I guess other people like it too.
