Which .45ACP pistol do you recommend?

-Glock 21SF
-HK45
-HK USP
-Sig Sauer P220

I am a little torn because I have experience with Glocks. I like how Glocks have all passive safeties. HK makes fine weapons. I have shot their MP-5's, but they have active safeties which must manually and consciously be disengaged before firing. The P220 has a smaller magazine capacity than the other choices and I have heard that the P220 is one of the weaker-designed .45ACPs. Can anyone confirm this? However, the Sig has passive safeties such as an extra long trigger pull for the first shot.

With this being said, please help me decide what .45 I should buy. What are your reasons? Which is most accurate, reliable, rugged, etc.? Thanks.

I recently picked up a Sig P220 SAO in .22lr

I absolutely love this pistol...and I am most definately sending in the coupon for the .45ACP conversion at $399

Can't really beat a glock.... Rugged, reliable and simple to maintain....

For CCW would recommend a Glock 30....:)

None of the above. I have pistols in .45 acp in the following brands:

Colt 1911
Colt 1991
Witness (several)
Springfield XD

My favorite of all of them is the Springfield XD. It's compact, very accurate, and holds 14 rounds of .45 ammunition, with 13 in the magazine and one in the chamber. It fits my hand like a glove and is the only model of handgun that I can close my eyes, bring the gun up into shooting position, and be on target when I open my eyes. It also has the passive safeties you mention in your desired characteristics. It's also cheaper!

Hope this helps.

Fred

Of your choices, I have not fired the 21sf, I can't get a hk45 because my state has not deemed them safe to own  and my P220 was a lemon. So, I'd go w/ the USP45 -- mine has had almost 40k problem free rounds since AA

I voted for Sig because my hands aren't big enough for hi-cap .45s. However, if fighting breaks out in the streets, I'm grabbing my USP (in .40).

None of the above in .45acp.

Kimber 2, S&W 2, and Armscor.

I just shot my west german SIG P220 this afternoon. It is such an accurate, reliable pistol. I was shooting at 12 yards today and after 2 mags the center of my 7" bull was gone:) Its like shooting a .45 cal laser!

Which 45ACP?

After my Kimber Custom 2 ,I have to say the Glock 45 acp sf. or reg frame . It is really easy to shoot accurately and holds a good number of bullets. Haven't shot the Sig 220 so can't comment on it.

I didn't vote, since I did not see the FNP-45 on the list. It's my choice for hi-cap .45acp - I have one and a 1911 to turn to as well, but my primary HD pistol is the FNP-45.

gwnorth

May have to add FNP-45 to the list also, after reading the Gunblast report saying the FNP thinks it's a target pistol . It's one accurate pistol that should be on anyones short list.

I took a good hard look at the CZ 97 awhile back. If you're in the market for a solid .45 I wouldn't overlook it.

My FNP-45 is a wonderful handgun. Great shooter and those 15 round magazines are great comfort. My 1911 is still a great 45, but it sits in the case now while I shoot the FNP-45

Springfield XD was my very close second. I prefer hammer fired over striker and the FNP-45 is made in America by American workers.

I have the Sig P220, and I would probably put it and my SW1911 slightly ahead of your other choices, but I like those as well - skeeter_08
