I want a very strong 9mm pistol that is dedicated to shooting +P ammo.

If I were to shoot only +P in this pistol, what would be a good choice? I want strength!

Thanks!

Size and price doesn't matter.

Any of the modrn designs by quality companies like Glock, Beretta, S&W, Springfield, etc. should handle a steady diet of +P ammo. My only question is why would anybody waste the money to shoot only +P?

Don't forget eaa witness line of guns. With a benefit of many up grades of caliber for 200 bucks . You must be shooting competitively.Looking to shoot 9mm major? A Witness Elit Match can be bought out the door for less than 500 bucks if you find a good dealer. 640 retail

EAA expressively prohibit the use of +P, High pressure or High velocity ammo as per their manual.

There is a 10mm EAA Witness Elite Match here for $549 by the way.... anyway I think the only real risk in the new guns is +P+ I think they all work fine on +P

suturno,,, What darn manual are you ready about a witness . There newer line will handle (mm and 38super, that guys regularly shoot 9x23's in then in the same frame you can shoot 40s&w,45acp and 10mm what more do you needed. NO where in my manual does it say not to shoot +p ammo...NO where.

Do yourself a favor. If you're going to feed it a steady diet of plus P... get an all steel pistol (personally I like my CZ75 and Colt Gov't 9mm for shooting the +P and +P+ out of).

However, if you're looking for an amazing self defense round, Bonded HP 147grn Subsonic is really debunking the myth of 9mm being a poor fight stopper. Try the SPEER GoldDots.

From the HK USP Series Operator's Manual:

All USPs are approved for use with +P and +P+ ammunition as it applies to the specific caliber

It goes on to say:

The use of +P and +P+ ammunition accelerates wear and reduces the service life on the component parts of any pistol, including the USP series pistols

hey hardluk, when you use the word "know," it is not the same as the word "no." Know is the verb form of the noun "knowledge."

I think you meant to use the word "no."

Know offense, just trying to help you avoid making such a mistake (it being one which spellcheck wouldn't avoid) on a document in the real world. You no what I mean:scrutiny:

as for +p, most guns can take it. Just about all of them in fact. Many will say they do not advise, or will void warranties because of it, but that is just some of their CYA in action. Just use common sense. If the ammo that is used is consistently of a higher pressure, then the forces pushing the parts through their little circus is also going to be higher. The gun will wear out faster, if it is ever going to wear out. You might not even shoot enough (most people don't).

Browning Hi power (FN,FM)

Will handle a steady diet of 9mm+P. Use 18lb recoil spring to keep the brass from fly into the next county.

Unless you've got money to burn, you probably won't be feeding any pistol a steady diet of +P's. Running a few hundred through to check for function for a carry gun perhaps, but not an exclusive diet.

a) other than the Winchester 9mm NATO, you'll be spending quite a bit more for +P ammo.
b) you'll wear out parts (and eventually the gun) faster
c) unless you're in a defensive situation, it's kind of a waste. You don't need +P for punching paper and if you're thinking of hunting with it, you might consider moving up

If you think you really need the extra oomph, think about going to a .357 Sig.
