45 dragoon when would be a good time to send in my 1858 brass Remington to have you fix it up and tightn the cyl/barrel gap much tighter? plus make this a good shooter overall? :) as this these coming up months I would like to bein the first time to use your services I would like to have you work my gun over?

Well Justin,
The gate would work somewhat like the Kirst gate. It would be proprietary to me so I won't go into detail.

Midland man, I'll pm you.

hmm, not that i intend to use the pistol enough for it to really be worth it, but have you ever worked the action on an 1863 pistol?

Yes, I have and they get everything the big brother gets!
I'll try and post a pic. They're usually too big.

so this bolt stop you put in them.. it takes out the side to side wiggle of the bolt that causes a wobbly lockup? and the hammer stop will increase the longevity of the hand and handspring?

If I could get a ROA in great condition or unfired for $400, I'd do it.

But realistically, good examples of these guns are going for notably higher than that now.

that seems to be what im finding as well, so its looking more and more like an 1858 that i will probably have goons rework

Justin you are correct.
What you get back is a revolver that looks like the one you sent me but it handles easier, is much more "user friendly" and is built like a tank!

OP... I have channeled the force and it is telling me to tell you to...

Get a New Model Army... get a New Model Army... it is your destiny.

You are the chosen one. It's up to you to return balance to the force and restore peace to the galaxy!! :D

well, those mods do interest me considering the 1860 i have has a loose cylinder ive tracked down to a loose bolt, and i think some hand damage cause by over travel of the hammer as i have a habbit of letting the weight of the revolver cock the hammer.. two areas where damage has occurred where it wouldnt have with those mods... the other damage ive done to it was snapping the bolt spring but i replaced it with an SAA round/wire spring and havent had a problem since

if i decided to refinish the revolver for aesthetics, will your modifications interfere with this?

All my work is internal except for the cap post on open tops and the fire blueing of the screws. Stainless screws get either polished or brushed.

Thanks Dicky!!

Thanks,
Mike

well this is on a major hold, just found out my dog needs an emergency surgery or she'll die, so that clearly comes first

i havent the money right now for it, so its not looking good, she will probably die :( but thanks anyway for the prayers

well, i believe the issue with my dog is resolved, thankfully.. i will have to wait a bit longer before buying a new cap and ball but i think thats the way we'll go with the uberti 1858 works by goons and an 1863 i probably wont have worked on since it wont be used that much.. but a little black powder and some 00 buckshot is all i need to load them? should be a very cheap way to get small game in a pinch

yeah.. and when things rain, they pour, now my mother is in the hospital and is looking at at least a week
