Which cartridge is your favorite to reload and why.

I’ve been reloading for a little over a year and a half. I enjoy it more than I ever dreamed. I really like reloading 38s and 357 mag but I don’t mind 9 mm either. I’m getting ready to start loading British 303 and 223.

.38 Special. First cartridge I loaded on my own equipment. Also the first round I loaded on my buddies 550B back in 98.

Very forgiving, uses minimal powder (Bullseye anyone?) and can be loaded from light bullet to heavy, and from mild to wild.

45/70 tied with my .500 S&W, both straight walled, both easy to reload and there are many powders that each of them can use. Also, both are hard hitting up to 500 grain bullets. They do not have the stress on their cases or elongate as bottle necks do.

Whatever is new to me and screwy enough that nobody at the gun shop has ever heard of it.
I'm with WestKentucky - oddball and "new to me" cartridges. My favorite was my 7mm IHMSA for a while, then my .41 Magnum, and now my favorite is probably my .45/110 Sharps. If I get myself a .38-55 Winchester one of these days, it will probably become my favorite - for a while anyway.

.38 Special is my No. 1 favorite. Counting .357 guns, I have more choices to shoot .38 than any other revolver cartridge and I can load a wider variety of bullet/powder combinations than any other cartridge I load for.

.44 Special is my No. 2. This is an easy loading, great shooting caliber that has a lot of load options as well.

:D

Stay safe.

6.5 Creedmoor.

Primarily because thats what my dad shoots.

Second, its the easiest round to get useable accuracy ive ever worked with. This is over 6 or so different rifles, 4 different 140class bullets, and 5 different powders.

I dont really like reloading anymore, so i really value easy rounds to load for.

My absolute favorite is the 9.3x62 because you really can't go wrong. This caliber is boringly accurate no matter what load you use. The one caliber that taught me the most lessons about reloading was my grail gun a Mannlicher Schoenauer model 1905 in 9x56ms. It hasn't been loaded commercially in the US since the 1930's. The problems mostly were due to a tight bore at .353. I had to swage 358 bullets twice to get down to the desired size. I was able to source brass from quality cartridge which helped a lot. The next obstacle was constructing a load that regulated to the sights. I also learned that bullet ogive matters in a Schoenauer magazine for good feeding. It was a master class in reloading that taught me and humbled me several times. It made me a better reloader.

38-55 is a hoot to load for and shoot. I love to hear those 165 lead flat nose hit the target backer. Taking a deer with that old Winchester is gratifying as well. Open sights and all. Hot .357 mag for everyday pistol round...

My favorite is S&W 500Mag, it’s like revolver rounds but for adults. That being said, 9mm is what I load the most of.
