Foto Joe,

I also have a steel framed 1860 Sheriff. I never use the loading lever on that gun. Like you say, it's a pain in the hand. I load all cylinders off the gun now in my old age. Much more leverage to be had in a cylinder press, and more consistency too.

Madcrate

Nice collection and group shot.

I really like the wood on the second adn third brassers from the bottom. Did you refinish those or did you replace the original grips? Whats the story?

I did not check a preference as I like both and if you offered me one of either I would dither for ages over the choice.

Thank you for the kind words. The three "brassers" are from the High-Standard Guns of the Confederacy series. They came from the factory with the fancy grade wood. HS did a nice job on these, Two of mine are GTG from the factory and a third needed some attention with fitting the barrel gap.

I like them both, but voted for Colt. I like the sights on my 1858 Reminton, and I like the large cylinders on my 2nd Model Dragoon. What gave the edge to Colt (for me) was the overall feel of my Dragoon vs my 1858. I like the heft and the trigger better on the Dragoon. That is not to say there is anything wrong with the Remington.

Black Powder Rob, It would probably go a little something like this:

He's just shot several times and took out a train robbery, one soggy old outlaw is on the ground reaching for his coach gun.

"I know what you're thinking. "Did he fire six shots or only five?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is a .44 caliber Colt Dragoon, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, pardner?"

probably something like that! :neener:
