Which do you prefer?

Both. I own the same amount of both actually though not by design. I like my 686+ as much as my 1911 though I think I am SUPPOSED to favor the Colt by a large margin!

I wonder whether there is a division based on age, with the younger set preferring the "coolness" of the semi due to the inspiration of their movie heroes. (it's always the less cool, older cop carrying the revolver in those cop/buddy pics). That's probably why I'd give a tip to the revolvers if push came to shove-kind of a playful jab at the wannabe "Rambos."

started off with autos-extra capacity and such.now,prefer a wheelgun.ive gone away from alloy receivers,plastic stuff and fancy do dads to a simple cylinder and double action trigger- and a powerful round.I do have 2 autos that i shoot regurarly for plinking and target practice but i prefer the DA wheelgun in 357 mag or 44 mag for hunting and such.i am considering the 2nd auto,a makarov,a good personal protection piece.price was right,no plastic parts and simple design.ballistics seem good and accuracy is better than most autos i have owned.

I like the "fly apart guns" as my Dad calls them. I'm a mechanicly inclined person and the more dynamic mechanisms intrigue me.

I prefer Semi Autos.

I have 3 wheel guns (all 4" 357 Mags. 2 Smiths and 1 Ruger) and intend to aquire a few more, but I will always have far more semi autos in my collection.

I cannot shoot revolvers if my life depended on it... probably has to do w/ the way the wheel guns feel in my hand


So my vote goes to the semi autos

I own 3 revolvers and 3 semi-autos. For self defense I would much rather have a good reliable Glock or maybe a 1911. A walk in the woods calls for me to have a revolver. I voted for Semi's because I do shoot them much better. But each has its place, some in your nightstand and some in the field.
