I've been seeing a lot of posts about Glocks lately, more noticably the new Gen4 Glocks. Also when perusing gunbroker.com, I see a lot of comments on Glocks about how the "finger grooves are annoying" or this, that, and the other thing. I was just wondering which generation all of you Glockophiles out there prefer?

Personally I like the Gen. 3 Glocks the most. I find the finger grooves to be very comfortable and don't even notice them unless I hold a Gen. 1 or 2. Then I miss them...don't know why, but I do. Secondly I really like the grooves where the thumb of your shooting hand rests on the frame. I also really like the light rail.

The Gen4 just doesn't do it for me. I know that having a handgun (key word being 'hand') fit you is very important, but I feel my 3rd Gen G22 and G21 fit my hands very well, and see no need for the adjustable backstraps. I'm also not a fan of the new guide rods, I don't really have a reason, just don't like 'em.

Anyway, I'm interested to hear your opinions on which Glock generation(s) you prefer and why.

I have to say my Glock19 GEN4 is pretty nice the girp fits in my hand alot nicer than the GEN3 i had. i dont use the backstraps that came with it the original grip just feels great.

I love my gen4 I am a leftie so switching the mag release is great for me.

I also like the grip size with out any back straps.

I just bought my first Glock a G22 Gen3 RTF. I bought it because I like the finger grooves and the grip texture. Lately though I've been eyeballing the G22 Gen2's. They look a lot more "basic" and with the deals you can find on used ones I may just pick one up.

So, Gen3's are my favorite.

All the Best,

Steyr C9. It's uglier has easier takedown, better sights, manual safety and childproof lock.

I have a G 26 Gen 3. I am thinking about buying a G 19. Yet I have not decided whether it is going to be Gen 3 o 4. I have to try the new grip and the backstraps before making any decision.

I've never found the Glock to fit me well until the Gen 4. Mine has been reliable so far. Needless to say I didn't use the included backstraps.

At first, the Gen3 G19 finger grooves felt a little small, and the triggerguard rubbed me the wrong way. I almost altered it, but I'm glad I didn't. I just don't notice it anymore.
Similar thing with the grip on the Gen4. The grippy texture rubbed me the wrong way at first, but now I don't notice it.

So make it any Glock for me, but in .45/10mm, make mine an SF.

I prefer Gen III in full size and subcompact.

The Gen III compacts don't fit my hand; I have a suspicion that a Gen II G19 would fit like a glove, but I haven't had the chance to shoot one yet.

Gen 3

But I'm trying to resist the idea of a Gen 4 Glock 23. Most of the problems with the Gen 4 seem to center around it's inability to shoot 9mm powder puff target loads. Which wouldn't be much of a concern for me because I don't load that for defensive purposes, well except for defending against paper silhouettes and water bottles.

I'm still waiting for Glock to come out with a hammer fired pistol made of blued steel and walnut with a single action trigger.

Gen 1 or Gen 2. My hands are too big for the finger grooves on the 3rd Gen's. I do like the RTF.
