if you are going to compare the roughly same size gun (ie, barrel length) then why didnt you use the 19 instead of the 26? the capacity of the 19 is 15+1. this is a discussion of .45's anyways.

because the glock 26 is closer in overall dimension to the XDM9compact than the 19 which is longer and taller by a great deal, actually. I just wanted to point out that glocks do not an many cases(as previously stated) do not beat other makes and models of similar dimensions in terms of ammo capacity. you are correct though in that this is a discussion on 45ACP so my remarks were a little on the edge of the ballpark.

I would look really hard at the XDm. I have a 19 glock as my carry gun and my at home gun is a tactical .45 XD. I am very happy with the XD, and the m series adds a match grade barrel ,excellent trigger, easy to strip and a bunch of goodies come with it. The XD with over 1000 rounds through it has yet to hiccup. It's really hard to go wrong with Glock, S&W or any of the others.

I'm not a double stack 45 kinda guy......from your options I don't really see a bad one. Try to hold and fire each, you'll know when you feel it.

I have a g21 that has thousands of rounds through it with all stock parts. Excellent, reliable, wonderful .45. Make sure you hold one before you buy one though, if you have stubby fingers that could be an issue.

I wouldn't consider 3.8 to 4.0x a great deal of size difference by any stretch but back to the discussion at hand.

All four are great pistols and you wouldn't be making a mistake getting any one of them. Ive had all except the XDm and sold the m&p, still have the g21 and FN. Imo the FN is easily the best, smoothest shooter and one other thing I wanted to point out was that its also not just another glock copycat like so many other guns. Its da/sa with decocker and optional manual safety. I really like being able to carry cocked and locked if I want to although I usually carry with the hammer down, DA first shot and SA thereafter.
