Leaving the Walther line off the list seems incomprehensible somehow -- the fact that no one has mentioned Walthers to date even more so. You can never be too rich, nor too thin, nor have too many Walthers. :)

1. Semi-auto's-- Sig Sauer.
Love the P220 and P226

2. D/A Revolvers-- Pre-Lock S&W
All of them.

3. S/A Revolvers-- Freedom Arms
IMO-The Premier Model 83 is the best S/A made.

HK

Go with HK - i got away from them for awhile and it was a mistake - I am finally back into an HK P2000 .40 with a light LEM trigger - its the best gun i have had in years - very accurate and very dependable -i would say you should at least consider it!!!

AT least the..

Quote: It's funny to see Colt getting such a good rating since they haven't put out a quality handgun in decades.

57 of us that voted Colts, (thus far) have a quality gun.. ;)

Huh... I am somewhat surprised to see that more people prefer Desert Eagles to Para-Ordnance guns. I don't really care for either, but I am just surprised to see that only 4 people voted for Para-Ord.

im surprised you don't have Israel weapons inc on there. they make a damn good pistol. i love my baby eagle

Firepower, how hard have you looked? I've found Smith & Wesson to have made some of the best handguns ever made (third-generation semi-autos, the models 52, 952, 41, 945, most of their revolvers and their 1911s) to name a few.

Its perhaps due to where I live. Not many models make it out here in pistols. However, revolvers are different story.

I dont even know how to vote on this one, so many options. I mean Glock basically only builds one gun and then adapts it to different needs. But a brand like S&W or Ruger builds a variety of stuff ranging from complete crap (S&W Sigma) to the most awesome tacticool pistol ever (S&W M&P). This makes me hesitant to vote for any specific make.

That being said I voted glock because they have come close to perfection in their niche. We will never see a glock bolt action 30-30 but if your holding a glock your in good company.

SW is surprising me

Votes in favor of SW are some what surprising to me since I always thought of them as revolver makers even though I know they also make pistols. What turned me off from SW was SIGMA series. The trigger was horrible so I immediately got rid of it. I sure there are other good SW models out there. I personally favor Glock in semi, and Stichken APS in select fire. But if I have to pic a tough pistol which withstand rugged tests it would be SIG P226. I am not quite sure why American Army picked Beretta over it just for a fractionally additional cost!

Well I visited the shop today and I am leaning toward getting one each of the following:

Sig P226 for rugged use
Glock 19 arm holster
Glock 26 for conceal carry on anckle
and HK P2000 since it was way to smooth to fire.

I don't think you'd ever regret owning a P226.

Only one each? :D
.
EDIT: FP! - what does a gun shop in your area look like, anyway? Any chance of a pic?
