Hope I'm not giving inside information to a competitor. If you are bidding on one of these, please PM me and we can work together to not needlessly drive each other's cost up. I don't NEED any of them, so I'm open to options, and I'm a local buyer so if there's anything you want eyes on in person on this auction, I can help.
All have good bores. All are in good mechanical condition and complete as far as I can tell. All but #2 have minor issues precluding any serious collector value. #2 will likely go for more than I wish to pay, as it's pretty cherry.
Apparently I have a pump action itch. I already load for .300 Savage and love the round, so I am definitely on 3, even though cosmetic condition "needs work". I have a definite use for this rifle, and the 2x7 glass is perfect. I also like all things Savage, and don't own a pre-1920 one yet, so 1 intrigues me even though it's not high on my list to have another .22. Also don't know mu ch about Savage 14s. 4 is a Swede with a good bore and a matching bolt and nice walnut well done. Needs a re-crown maybe, D/T, and a new bolt handle to be a proper sporter, but my instincts say it's a solid rifle and will shoot well. I also load this round already and love it. 5 might be a diamond in the rough for someone who wants to hunt with a vintage rifle (like me), but I'd be adding a caliber and bore diameter to the stable which is dicey these days. It's better than the pictures. Honest wear, some surface scratches and spot or 2 of rust in the crannies, but good bore and mechanically sound. Action is SMOOTH! My base budget is 1K with room for the commission beyond that, so 2 may be an option. What would you do?
