Go USFA... USFirearms.com. I'd get a Single Action if I were you. I have a USFA SAA, nickel-finished with a 4.75" barrel, US hard rubber grips and chambered in .45 Colt.
Here's why, in a nutshell, I bought a USFA:
Colt: Expensive... very expensive. Although Colt doesn't use cast or MIM parts, their revolvers are notorious for being fragile. Also, they aren't true to the origional design. The old Generation III guns had a firing pin mounted in the frame, and their new Generation IV guns have a transfer bar safety. Yuck.
Taurus: Ruger makes a decent gun. They solved Colt's issues with fragility, and the Vaquero is damn near unbreakable. But they use cast parts, aren't true to the origional design even moreso that Colt (for chrissake, Rugers don't even have a half-cock notch anymore), they stick in that damn internal lock, and aren't all that accurate.
Cimmaron: Good guns, but on the low end. Uses MIM/cast parts.
Uberti: True to the original Colt Generation II design, but still has cast/MIM parts. Also, kind of fragile.
STI: Make good 1911s for defense and 2011s for competition, but they have no business in the SAA market. My experience with the STI Texican hasn't been all that favorable. Plus, they use MIM parts. However, they're at least true to the Colt Generation II design.
Which brings us to...
USFA: Durable as a Ruger. True to the origional design. Reliable and accurate. All parts are forged or milled. Custom and customizable. Fantastic customer service. Lifetime warranty. Spare parts (even ammo for defense, hunting and Cowboy Action) available from their website... for cheap. And you're paying for custom gunsmiths to put togeather your gun right, and finish and furnish the gun how you want it to be done... not for a picture of a horse on your reciever. And for all this, they're still $300 less than a Colt.
