I know I want a 50gr Bullet, but aside from that I'm not sure. I'm looking for an accurate bullet that is also good for varmint hunting. I've narrowed it down to these...

50gr Combined Technology Ballistic Silvertip
50gr Nosler Ballistic Tip
50gr Sierra BlitzKing
50gr Hornady V-Max

Depends on what you want to do with the varmint.

If its to blow stuff up and not recover the pelt then the 50gr V-Max will work.

If you want to keep the pelts then I'd go with a Blitz round.

I have had good results with 55gr V-Max over Varget in my 22-250. Blows jack rabbits to pieces. :D

I have a .243 recipie with the Sierra 70 grain Blitzking - smokes groundhogs and similar size critters. I like Sierra bullets, mostly for the price but the b/c is good and results on and off the range don't lie.

I like all the polymer tipped bullets,,but you might want to give the Sierra Blitz bullet a try, they have been exceptionally accurate in several of my varmit rifles and have very good terminal performance at a very reasonable price compared to the polymer tipped bullets.

While Nosler and Hornady make great bullets, Sierra is incomparable...especially in their BlitzKing lineup.

Positively explosive on anything under 300 yards when driven at high velocity. (>3600 fps)

The fact that they sell them in bulk doesn't hurt either. Midway sells 500 at a time for just under $65.

Ditto on esheato's post...So long as they impact at 3000fps or there abouts (+/- 100fps) they are devistating on varmints. Saving hides? Move down to a 40 ish gn Hornet bullet, shreds innards, one hole in the pelt, muscles and ribs absorb fragments.

I have had really good succes with the Hornady V-Max.

I noticed in your signature a Rem 700 VLS. I have the VS and it likes the 45 grain as well as the 50 grain bullets. Just for fun try the 45 grainers, the results are flatter and more explosive :D
