I just bought a DPMS Panther Oracle. It doesnt come w/a shoulder strap.

Walmart has 3 rifle straps:
- winchester supersling $9
- Winchesster stretch sling $10
- Winchester Neoprene sling $7

Purpose:
I plan on taking a basic carbine class. All the ones i've seen require a sling for the AR-15.
Which of the 3 would you pick? or alternative?

Also, i picked up a slip-on rubber recoil pad ($20) for the butt stock. Yes/No?

scythefwd,

impulse buy. and i've never fired a .223 before so dont know what the recoil felt like.

and it's walmart. easy returns.
and i'm returning the recoil pad.

No need for a recoil pad. You can put the stock on your nose, fire it, and not be bloodied (probably won't feel good, but not bloody nose recoil). Properly locked into your shoulder, an AR15 is a very friendly shooting rifle.

Any nylon sling, milspec or not, should do the trick. You can probably get a real mil one at your nearest milsurp store. Or a servicable one at Walmart.
