With vanishingly few exceptions, there is always at least one loaded firearm either on my person or within arm's length. While I've never been one to go looking for trouble, the admittedly-rare occasions where it's come to me anyway have been enough to cement the policy, as it were.
I comply with the law when I must go somewhere (courthouse, P.O., a school, etc.) where I am prohibited from doing so. I don't have to like it, and I don't, but would rather not risk becoming an inadvertent "test case" just to buy stamps.
I do make it a point to be as discrete about my CCW status as I possibly can. Only some selected members of my immediate family and even fewer trusted friends are aware that, whenever they see me, I will almost certainly be armed. I see no reason to advertise it, and take great care to make sure that any indications that I might be carrying are kept out of sight.
No 'sheep' are upset, no 'sheepdogs' have reason to give me a second glance, and would-be hyenas are still liable for an unpleasant surprise should it become necessary.
