Paranoia keeps the fat cats at the NRA going and the nutjobs on the radio able to fill the hours of diarrhia of the mouth.

"Paranoids have enemies too." ~~ Henry Kissinger.

The NRA has done a lot of good fighting those who would seek to diminish our rights, despite their blunderings.

"I believe there are more instances of the abridgement of the freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments of those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations."
~~ James Madison.

I believe we have an Obama supporter among us.

I like the real emails, not the ones that bring up legislation from years ago that went no where.

With that said, and i know others have said, make no mistake what the end game is here.

Some people are too uninterested to do anything until the "emergency" is upon us. All catering to them by inflating oissues does is make it so rational folks can no longer tell if Chicken Little is being serious or not.

Honestly, I get tired of such foolery.

Yeah it's getting old. I think a more reputable source will let us know when it's time to put our 2nd amendment to good use.

Move them to junk mail at this point, everyone want's something and no one has much left.

Yeah, let's crucify him for thinking like an individual and not listening to the shouting mouths on TV!

Correction... looks like we have a couple of Obama supporters among us. Why don't you guys give up your guns and go work for Acorn or something else useful.

I have family who until recently ALWAYS voted "One" way, no matter what. It was amazing. Knowing their values, the Churches they attended, and the fact they were gun toting Americans.

It's like the default only nobody knows why.

Then this year at Christmas, politics came up.... AND I WAS SHOCKED! Very pleasently so. BUT SHOCKED!

Who else is gettting fed up with the "their coming to get our guns" emails

No, but I am amused by how many people use the wrong word in their sentences.

There was a time when their grammar was better, but now they're getting worse each day. :D :D :D

If there is a real threat the NRA never fails to send me something in the mail regarding pending legislation. Every once in a while some knuckle head politician gets their panties in a bunch and attempts to write a new anti gun bill. Most don't make it out of committee and never see the light of day. While not a majority, gun owners still make up a very large voting block in this country and even the most rabid liberal knows if they push too hard they are libel to lose their seat at the public trough.

No, but I am fed up with those who don't get it

Who else is gettting fed up with the "their coming to get our guns" emails,
threads etc? I mean this has been going on for over a year now, give me a break.

It seems like every other day a friend or someone is emailing me another one of the gov. grand, master, uber, plans for taking my weapons. ENOUGH!

I don't think people need to break out their tinfoil hats, but getting a lot of emails and posting threads about potential bills and actions is better than the alternative of no info and no guns. The cost of freedom is eternal vigilance. If you let your guard down...well...have you looked at our government lately? :banghead:

I'd bet there were some people just before the Revolution saying, "I'm getting so fed up with these darn pamphlets from Thomas Paine and John Dickinson. I mean, it's been going on for a year now and the British haven't enslaved us yet. Give us a break. ENOUGH!" :neener:

While I agree that there is certain amount of hyperbole at times, I for one am happy to get those emails instead of not having them. If I don't feel like reading them...there is this small button the reads DELETE. Perhaps that is too difficult for some, so there is another option. In 99.99% of all emails, there is a link to unsubscribe. Use it if you are so fed up. Why make a ranting post about something you can easily solve? Or are some people just trying to say "the government isn't so bad, don't worry, let your guard down, and the NRA sucks." :uhoh:

As for bashing the NRA, well there isn't much hope for you if you don't get what they do. So don't join them and cancel your membership if you have such a huge issue with them. Certainly they are a political body, but unless you have some better ideas of how to fight Washington, keep an eye on the bills and legislation they try to slip in various places, can bring the weight of their membership to bear, can mass notify interested parties of what is going on, and provide legal support for firearms owners across the nation, all I can say is put a sock in it.

I a 50 year NRA member. The far out crazy stuff does not originate with the NRA. It origniates with conspiracy theorists and pro-gun wannabe organizations. I like this site because it is closely monitored and the rumor stuff is quickly removed. This is not the case on most sites.

I just love those threads that start out: "Someone sent me an e-mail." In the past 12 months I have seen dozens of threads where posters claimed that the government was going to require citizens to list their guns on IRS returns, the UN is coming after our guns because someone in government decided to support UN weapons control policy, how Interpol secret agents are going to disarm law abiding gun owners and how US troops are coming to to take away our guns. People who make untrue posts without vetting them first do all law abiding gunowners a grave dis-service.

It is a sad state of affairs when people have nothing better to to do than concoct elaborate conspiracy theories, tell outright lies, and distort the truth in order to stir up gunowners.

If you are not seeing it in the newspapers, reputable online news services and on TV there is a very good chance that it is a lie or a conspiracy theory. Snopes and factcheck are your friend.

The bottom line is that we can never let up.

Right, but we don't need to be fighting fights that don't exist or that have already been won. This is not being productive and it isn't being vigilant. I think alsaqr and I are of the same mind on this in that far too few people vet the garbage they pass on as fact and they do it under the auspices of airing on the side of caution (better to tell you and it not be real than to not tell you and it be real) because they are too lazy or too incapable of using the interet to see if what they are passing on is actaul, relevant, and timely.

No, nobody is holding a gun to my head to read them, but I do feel it is important to look at the emails sent to me by my friends and family.

Before passing on an e-mail, make sure the threat is real; stuff like HR45 is not likely to move out of committee at this point. Too many false alarms will make folks apathetic when a real threat comes along. I think that is the point of the opening post.

If there is a bill in consideration in committee it needs to be brought up and the sponsors pointed out. If it is 2 yrs old and dead that is one thing and I agree that stuff turns into white noise that distracts from the real debate but the fact that some of this quackery is even considered shows the fight we are in and the enemy we are up against as well as the level they will go if allowed.

We agree with President-elect Obama that we can uphold the Second Amendment “while keeping AK-47s out of the hands of criminals.”71 Assault weapons are semiautomatic versions of fully automatic guns designed for military use. Semiautomatic assault weapons unleash extraordinary firepower. ATF has concluded that assault weapons “are not generally recognized as particularly suitable for or readily adaptable to sporting purposes” and instead “are attractive to certain criminals.”72 ATF’s analysis of guns traced to crime showed that assault weapons “are preferred by criminals over law abiding citizens eight to one…. Access to them shifts the balance of power to the lawless.”7

The above is from a Brady Campaign memo sent to President-Elect Obama. This is a sample of the drivel sent to millions of uneducated people everyday. I'm not to worried about an occasional junk email. It's not difficult to weed through them.

I tire of them for sure.

I vote for pro-2ndA candidates.
I belong to the NRA.
I spend a lot of money with US firearms manufactures.
I speak to the support of the 2ndA with all who are interested or will listen.

I do get sick of the "sky is falling" type stuff. We won Heller...yes we won it, we needn't soften our language...we won that.

Many, many more states allow CC than did a few years ago.

Support for the 2ndA is good...keep it up. Burying you guns is kind of silly and fearing an imminent Stalinist takeover is ridiculous.
