Who else wants a 50 cal after watching 60 minutes?

I've had one on ''the list'' for the longest time but ... it's a funds thing I guess.

Can someone who is very .50 savvy - post what options there are out there ... makes, models and costs. Put another way - what is the least expenditure needed to adopt one of these babies??

I want a Barret 82A1 so bad it is unreal....... (Where is the drooling smiley?)

Reality is, though, neither do I have a place to shoot a .50, nor do I have the LARGE sack of money to buy one. And at $2.00+ a shot. . . .

Also, I want a .50 just to torque off the lefties.

www.serbu.com
www.statearms.com

both have 50 bmg rifles for about 2 grand..

I'm looking at the state arms shorty tactical.. 1800+75 shipping.

I've wanted a

Barrett 82A1 for a long time, I only hope they aren't banned by the time I can afford one.

Despite the fact I have nowhere to shoot it and can't justify the expense of buying one just watching those smug liars on 60 Minutes really make me want one now. Do you think we can get Wildalaska to start a group buy? I'm in if he's offering credit terms...

I've got a 10 year wedding anniversary coming up this next year and my wife already knows... I would like the SERBU ANNIVERSARY RING! We're planning on moving back to the wild-west in the not too distant future and deserts are GREAT for .50's! But... if anyone is up for a group buy that would be good too. ;)

even if I buy it and shoot it once a year, I have a feeling that one day theyll be banned.. damn liberals.

I realized im broke, and my new goal is by the end of the year.

...just a matter of time my friends...the noose gets tighter and tighter...

Everyone knows that FIFTY caliber rifles are bad. Bad rifle! No bullet for you!

I gotta laugh...

Thanks to the California legislature, we huddled masses of People's Republik bought more 50 cal BMG rifles in the last 3 months of 2004 than were sold in the last TEN YEARS. I accounted for (at least) 3...

BTW...I've got a VIPER XL (an improved version of the Barrett 99) receiver for sale. (long story)...

It's posted in the rifles for sale section.

I'd like a .50 on general principal. The fact that it'd tick off liberals is just icing on the cake. Thanks to 60 Minutes, all the liberals know what a .50 BMG is. Now I won't hafta explain it to 'em to piss 'em off.

Those .50 BMG uppers for AR-15s are intriguing. They're only a little out of my price range, as opposed to way out of my price range like the full rifles are. Better yet, they aren't legally a firearm, so there won't be a Form 4473 somewhere that has ".50 BMG" written next to my name and address.

So are these uppers actually worthwhile? Or do they suck? You know what they say about things that sound too good to be true...

If I were to buy a .50, I would be highly motivated to get a Barrett, just to thank Ronnie for being willing to go up against 60 minutes, and the LAPD.

We need more like him. He's earned my business.

I would tend to buy what's more accurate. If you go to a range you want a rifle that's very accurate don't you? Not that they're bad but that leaves out semi-auto rifles IMHO. That saves you money right there. I have three and none of them are semi because I want to compete in the future.

Asside from making pretty much the 'top of the mountian' of .50BMGs, the reasons enumerated above had a lot to do with this:

I couldn't really afford it either, but the Kaliban put one in my hands. I guess a new truck will have to wait :)

The Barrett M82A1 Is too pricey for me. I do like the Barrett 99 because it's only 1/3 the cost, but it needs a small magazine/bolt. Real PITA finger feeding each round.

AB50 hastened my purchase of a Serbu. It's sitting in the safe...well...the receiver is sitting in the safe. Hopefully in the next few months I'll be able to finish it.

Maybe Tom Diaz and that idiot Koretz (AB50 author) secretly own stock in some .50 manufacturers...?

Is your face changed to protect the innocent?

I bet my McMillan is more accurate.

I bet your McMillan is more accurate too!!! ;)

The Barrett is fun, but not the most accurate gun in the world. (I've got my Armalite AR-30 .338Lapua for that. Similar effective range, and 1/2MOA or better.)

I didn't like the Barrett bolt actions that much. The Armalite AR-50 was nice (albit a single-shot bolt) And infact, if I were to get a bolt .50 (hypothetically now.) it would be a McMillan with either the Tac50 stock or the full stock. That or the AI :)

You can't beat owning a 50 cal in my opinion. I have a Serbu BFG and I love shooting that thing. I was lucky in that I got into a group buy on another board. Serbu was letting them go for under 2K if you ordered 10. I would bet they'd still do that deal if enough people got together. From what I understand, Serbu is now coming out with a Semi Auto version of the BFG as well.

As for accuracy, I've hit coffee cans at 600 yrds with it. I'm not sure what kind of MOA that is, but for me, that's damn accurate enough! ;)

If you don't have one now, buy one before it's to late. Nothing beats the looks you get from jealous shooters on the line when you break out one of those babies. Oh, once you get one, bring extra ammo to the range as you will definitely be asked if someone can try it out.

Well . . . a local gunshop has a RAMO M2 HB, complete with tripod, for sale, along with a couple of boxes of linked ammo. Price is just over $22,000.

Plus a $200 transfer tax and a short(?) wait while the BATmen process the paperwork.

RAMO US M2HB .50caliber MACHINE GUN: $22,000
Transfer Tax: $200
1,000rounds linked .50BMG M33 Ball: $2,000

Private Citizen Owning a gun that helped us win WWII and nearly every other major conflict since: ABSOLUTELY FNICKING PRICELESS!
