Who Knows Someone Who's Been Shot?

My father was shot in the ankle as a teen by an idiot friend who wanted to play cowboy with a .22 revolver during a camping trip. Dad said it didn't hurt too badly going in, but hurt like hell when he dug the bullet out. He said what hurt even worse was getting smacked by his mom (a real life WWII Rosie the Riveter) when she found the bloody sheets.

I am good friends with a cop who was shot (ricochet) at the range by another officer. The shooter, now a former officer, pulled the magazine on his .40 Sigma and squeezed the trigger before holstering, not taking the time to check the chamer. Dischared down into the concrete pad, then up into my buddy's thigh. Minimal penetration, but the bruising was amazing.

As for car crashes, many, many more.

I had a cousin killed during a robbery at a gas station. He was a customer. He was shot in the face with a 12guage. I had another cousin shot and killed by his best friend. His friend then turned the gun on himself. It was one of those murder/suicide things. They were burried almost next to each other on the same day. I also had a couple friends shot when I drove cab. One was hit in the head and lived the other died. The one that died was put into the trunk of his cab and they shot him 11 times before they closed the trunk. We later found out he was shot with a revolver so they stopped long enough to reload and kept shooting him. I've had 2 friends get shot. One was hit in the leg during a fight and the other was shot and killed by his girlfriend during a misunderstanding. I had a couple of other situations involving gun play during the years I drove a cab but nobody was hit. Other then gunshots I have an exgirlfriend kill a guy with hammer. She's in prison. There was a couple I knew that were both stabbed during a home invasion. She was raped as well while her husband was tied to a chair in the same room. They were anti gun at the time. Now they own firearms and have carry permits. It's a crazy world out there and you never know when things will happen. I always have a firearm on or near me. I have a friend now that lectures me about carrying a gun every now and then. When he does I see the faces of all these people in my mind and I tell him I can think of a number of reasons to carry.

I know and knew many who have been shot with 7.62x39 or larger.

My first time was with a WWII Japanese rifle, I think it was a Ariska (sp)?, small caliber lucky because I got it in the knee, just behind the kneecap.

These things happened over the course of like 12 years. It's been kinda slow for about the last 7. LOL I do tend to use the term friend a bit loosely though.

I know whatcha mean. It seems that I lose a friend or two every year to scooter accidents alone. A constant reminder that life is truly short.

I know 1 guy who attempted suicide, 1 who was murdered, 1 accidently shot in leg while hunting, 2 wounded in a bar fight, 1 wounded during an attempted carjacking, and 2 who committed suicide. I can't even begin to count how many car accidents with and without fatalities I've seen, just too many to count. IMO the ratio numbers are meant to support gun banning laws.
