Naming weapons is an ancient warrior custom. The pre-Christian Irish epic, Tain Bo Cualgne, for example, mentions by name the weapons of several famous warriors.

I name selected weapons, not all of them. They have to earn their names.

Naming weapons is an ancient warrior custom.
But I am not an ancient warrior.
I don't believe the earth is flat either....since we're discussing goofy things about ancients.
Crap...now I have that old Calgon TV commercial in my head; "Ancient Chinese secret eh?"

only named two of them, the club of doom and terminator! My hakim gets a really special name during a case of Hakim Thumb, but do the nature of these being a family site, i won't say it here

But I am not an ancient warrior.
But I am, and I think it's a good thing to keep up the old customs, like making drinking cuips out of your enemies' skulls, drums out of their hide, and flutes out of their shinbones.

After all, we can't let civilization completely die away.:p

All of mine came with names: Ruger, Marlin, Remington, Colt, etc. In the case of duplicates, they seem to have "subscripts," like "Remington 700 .30-06" or "Remington 700 .308."

Only nickname my wife and I use is "American Express." When she asks, in public, "do you have your American Express," it refers to whatever CCW I'm carrying. It also gives me a "heads up" that she is condition orange.

Sure do! I named my P35, "Jenny". I named my 25th Anniversary Mustang 5.0, "Stella".

It's called personification.

I have a Browning A-bolt stalker in .30-06 with the BOSS named "The Duke". I have never missed and so far its been one shot one kill. Just like John Wayne.
:)

I once saw a very long barreled Ruger mark ll with the name WILLE engraved on the barrel I asked the owner why it was named WILLY and he said it was a wedding gift for his wife when he asked her what she wanted from him as a special wedding present she said a 13 inch WILLY. True story
