Who will get your guns when you've fired your last round?

I don't have any children, so my nephews will each get to choose one gun and my wife will sell whatever remains.

My best friend died and I helped his wife dispose of his collection of 42 firearms. Because of what I learned from that experience, I now store all of my magazines in boxes marked with what pistol they go to. That should make it easier when the time comes.

Already started to parcel 'em out.

I've have a large collection of handguns and rifles. Been collecting over 40 years. Way too many to shoot on a regular basis. As I am 66 and in my "sunset" years I decided, why wait? So I have begun distributing my guns so that they can be enjoyed now. Wills are great. But IMHO they also invite the state and federal government to become your partners in your estate. Blooey on that! So, as I said, why wait? Good shooting:)

If I fire my last round....

The way that the FEDs are going, when I fire my last round they will probably be confiscated by the FEDs and admitted as evidence.

MOLON LABE!

I'd like to offer a good home, grooming and regular use to any firearms orphaned by the untimely demise of their owners.

In other words, if you don't know who to give them to, send em my way! :D

I never gave it much thought. I will probably give them to family and other shooters. I want nothing going to the government for destruction.

It won't be the feds. It'll be the state cops.

My one year old son will get everything in twenty years. I'm pushing 50, I hope to hand them over to him personally. :)

As I am now 60, my son and daughter will get em. For the last 5 years, I've been completing the rifle/shotgun and pistol stables.
Both kiddos know well how to use them and have a respect for older Winchesters/Remingtons/Smiths n Colts.
Figured the steel was a better investment than stocks!
When I hit 65, I'll give em to them...keep a couple of users for myself.Reloading gear will go with them.

I'm 59 and have been parceling them out for 4 years, and still buying. It is sad us oldsters finish their collection for others, isn't that biblical? I want to be buried (no kidding) with one on my chest like knights did with their swords. I don't like the idea of wife selling my collection to strangers and getting taken by "appraisers" . I ll leave her enough property and insurance money. Yes they will go to 4 boys faster as I get infirm. I started with lesser guns to them first to see how they took care of them. The outcome depends on what they get next.:p

Interesting Question. My heirs (if you will) have no interests in the guns, but rather the money. I have known this for years and have offset some of the more family sentimental pieces to my brother and sister's childen, who do have an interest. In the past I had considered willing that they be sold and have the funds donated to the NRA for thier RKBA support. However, recently I have been asking myself if the NRA is really the best RKBA support channel. I'm 50 and not ready to check out yet, so I would need a recipient that is going to be viable for a while. Any ideas, other than the shameless individual offers to see that they get a good home from a devout RKBAer? :D

Actually, yes. pull out a few pieces and turn 'em into a "Jim March award." Announce that the person who in your sole opinion did the most for RKBA in the coming year takes their first pick home. Perhaps a second and third prize if you like. Maybe a .22 for a kid's version -- say "I started a sane safety program in my middle school" kinda thing.

Whatcha think?

:D Problem is...I wanted to keep them until I am done with them and then legally will them to a RKBA rights support group. You said "In my sole opinion" Hmmm yes it will be a SOUL opinion by the time I am done with my guns, but I am not sure how I would express it from the grave. Thanks, Apologies, If I have misunderstood.

The wife and I don't have any kids and don't plan on any so I've been preparing 2 of my nephews for the task. One is 12 now and is getting his own 20 ga slug gun next hunting season from me. The other is only 5 but I've let him pull the trigger on my 10-22. He loves is. The wife gets to do the dividing up if I go before her. But between the guns and the tools(I'm a mechanic) she has her work cout out for her.
