Why 32 h&r?

Oh, they already do (I'm 71 myself). Regular 38's in regular K-N frame guns don't of course, but those P+ 158's in an airweight J-frame do. The 642 with wadcutters isn't too bad. We'll have to see how the 327's do, but old Uncle Arthur goes nuts when hard kicking stuff comes out.
I have that Taurus 327 also. 327 loads didn't seem like a big deal to me a couple weeks ago, but my hands have been good lately. The 32 H&R is still NP, and I'm not sure that I feel 32 S&W long much more than a 22.

I can still do 38's out of an aluminum snubby, but can already tell that will come to an end eventually.

What's so special about 32hr? I've just watched a few YouTube ballistics and barrier penetration test, and I looked up Lucky Gunner's ammo testing. I wasn't impressed at all and I don't understand why anyone would choose a 32hr over a 38 special especially being that ammo availability and selection with 38 special is more plentiful. It doesn't seem like it makes sense for self-defense or plinking purposes over 38 special.

I don't understand the hype over the new S&W uc 32h&r offering. Is this a case of people just wanting it because it's new or the grass is greener on the other side? Heck, on AmmoSeek.com, the cheapest ammo I see is over $1 per round! It doesn't make sense.
Oaktree Gun club has a .32H&R revolver thats been in their store so long the price tag has almost faded away. I think htey were offering it for half price to get rid of it. I almost impulse bought it as I already have a .32 S&W short revolver from the 1900's - but its California and I'm no a 30 day "cooldown"

I don't blame you.

Why a .32H&Rmag?
This is one reason why….
And besides, it uses less lead, less powder.
But, with the load that shot that group, it has more power and shoots flatter than a .38spl. (100gr Hornady XTP, Starline case, Federal #100 primer, published max load of Hodgdon’s Lil’Gun @25yds). Runs just a tad over 1,300fps from this Taurus M76.

Great answer !!

I have a 32 S&W safety hammerless, my wife's uncle's gun, an S&W Model 30 and Model 31 J-frame (32 S&W Long), an Manurhin MR 32 (32 S&W Long), , an S&W Model 16-4 (32 H&R Mag), an Ruger SP101 (327 Fed Mag), and a Ruger Single Seven (32 Fed Mag).

Because of the Model 30 and Model 31 revolvers, I got interested in S&W Long. If they had been marketed correctly, they could have been the "reloadable 22 RF "cartridge.

But, there is not alot of extra zip between the 32 S&WL and 32 H&R Mag. I was reloading cartridges when the 32 H&R mag was introduce but not into reloading 32 caliber cartridges. In hind sight, I feel there was alot of poor marketing promoting the 32 H&R Magnum.

The 327 Fed Mag has a definite improvement in power over the 32 S&WL and 32 H&R Mag. We have ground hog issues on our hobby horse farm and the SP101 chambered in 327 Fed Mag will be used to dispatch the next ground hog.

But, my S&W Model 16-4 (32 H&R Mag) is relegated to mostly "plinking"status As si the Manhurin MR32. They are a great gun to shoot, but really not up the task of taking small game.

As my aging right hand gets gimpier, the various non-Fed-mag .32 cartridges are becoming my friends. Such weapons as slim-line micro- and mini-nines are NOT my friends. If I want to keep using little guns, such as S&W J-Frame snubs, they have to be chambered for milder cartridges. I am still sorting-out the various factors and possibilities.
