No, in his world, I do believe it would be as he typed it..IGNORENCE...its for those who have a different definition of IGNORANCE. It separates him from the masses like boolits vs. bullets! Definition: IGNORENCE; not quite stupid enough to be IGNORANT.

Very true about how the spellings and meanings of words change. I was recently following a thread on a social media. Two ladies were dicussing how they both had caught "Cooties". I was taken aback until I found out the modern meaning of the word. It is what they today call a bug or cold caught from another person. I told them that in my day it meant something entirely different!

As to the OP's question, as far as I can tell, boolit is slang for one's cast lead bullets......

Its a made up term specific to hand cast bullets that a forum dedicated to casting your own lead bullets made up as a lighthearted way of differentiating hand cast from factory production.
You can call them ignorant, or denigrate casting, but you should peruse the website before throwing stones. There is a lot of good information and a depth of knowledge on that forum, and simply said, hand casting is another hobby in itself that I won't get into.

Seriously. Should I go call my buddy and tell him I can't go Steelhead plunkin' tomorrow because there is no such thing? Or should I listen to him call it plunkin' because that's what he likes to call it, and enjoy the fact that he knows much more about it than I do and try to learn as much as I can?

It's my understanding that www.castboolits.com was created in 2005 because www.castbullets.com had already been claimed by someone else in 1998.

They're all bullets. If some folks want to use a made up word to differentiate themselves and make them feel superior to the peasants who buy their cast bullets, that is fine. It's silly to me. I'd rather be shooting bullets than casting boolits.

Funny....I frequent the Cast Boolit site, probably more than any other, and have never gotten the sense that any of the folks over there look down their noses at anyone else, particularly those who don't cast. Actually, I tend to think of them as generally not really caring if anyone else chooses to, or to not make their own bullets.

On the other hand, if you were to poll that bunch, they'd probably wonder why anyone would want to be dependent on another for their projectiles. Now that I think about it, it makes me wonder too, but to each his own!

The definition of IGNORANCE is lack of knowledge. I don’t think anyone over at cast boolits doesn’t know how to spell bullet. In fact the guys over there are a good bunch and not stupid or ignorant. Thus it sounds to me that the ones that don’t know how to cast boolits themselves are the ignorant ones.

I don’t use the term boolits, but I consider it a playful variation of bullets.

While this world has gone to hell in a handbasket, this is a small issue in the big scheme of things.

“Tall Ships” is what really gripes me. They were always sailing ships and I consider “Tall Ships” evidence of the declining intelligence of the human species. Has the memory of sloops, schooners, snows, ketches, yawls, barks, brigantines and full rigged ships so faded from human consciousness that all are now lumped into a category of “Tall”?

Will the next stage in human devolution be when we start lumping everything into the category of "tall" because we don’t know the uniqueness between things? Tall trees, tall flowers, tall rocks, tall buildings, tall planes, tall cars, tall dogs, tall guns, etc, etc?

Being a school administrator, I loathe when words are intentionally spelled incorrectly. You try to teach kids how to spell words correctly. Just my pet peeve.

I dislike "boolits" on æsthetic grounds; I don't like the way it looks. Is there anything "wrong" with it? Not intrinsically, although I believe on what is fundamentally a technical forum, one should strive to be very specific, with the goal of maximum comprehension in the reader.

See this is where the both of you with your own vision of how the world should be are totally missing the point of not only the word but the meaning as well.

As mentioned above. Now it doesn't take a rocket scientist or even a teacher for heavens sake to figure out that the Castboolit site has their own culture, and way of describing things. Right, wrong, or indifferent, just a term of endearment for the added hobby, pastime, or business, of casting one's own boolits. No different than someone naming their rifle, truck, or any other thing that brings them happiness.

Sending the word "bullet" through some internet filters is a no go depending on where you are at. However using "boolit" bring the Castboolit site right up with no issues. So in some cases it IS a filter function depending on just where your at, or what service might be available.

As to the,

BOOLITS....the simple answer to this bastardization of the long used correct word is IGNORENCE. Perhaps with a good dose of STUPID tossed in for good measure.

REALLY, do you actually know of the folks to whom you refer, and the details of their lives and backgrounds in knowledge or schooling? Some are quite educated and intelligent folks. I don't know you from Adam and I sure wouldn't insinuate that you were either, except for the remark which you made is a darned good reason too.
