Promotion or Attraction?
Sometimes an Idea or Service is best
Promoted.
Folks become curious and educate themselves. Lets use THR as an example. When TFL closed , THR was one of the sites "promoted" for TFL members to visit. Folks perused, sought out familar folks, and made a decison.
Other Times an Idea or Service
Attracts folks.
They are curious and educate themselves. Using THR again, someone does a Teoma search, about "responsible firearm ownership". This could be a person totally against guns, a fence sitter, or someone pro gun seeking on-line sources.
Attracted to the synopsis of the search, and spending a few moments perusing this site ( THR) that person no matter what position or attitude on firearms has a on-line resource.
My attitude , right wrong or indifferent is -well I do have the right to be wrong.
I also have a choice to NOT be a doormat as the psych folks like to say.
It is said one teaches others how they want to be treated, psych folks really like cliche's.
Now some folks THRIVE on getting stuff stirred up. The easiest way to build themselves up is to tear down others. They may actually be educated, sincere, in thier belief system. Then again they may not be more than brainswashed , could be they do not have a sense of belonging, and "being part of something" - good , bad , whatever fills that "need" of belonging.
Mob Mentality. Hey ask why some folks of the mob participated in busting window and looting...they have no idea...other than they were a "part of something".
Besides my infamous trigger lock on fire extinguisher in a English Lit. Class , I pulled others. The Topic - This Topic of concealed carry came up.
I chose to keep my mouth shut, be very cool. I had a plan tho'.
A few classmates were pro gun, and did in fact have CCW. I felt it best to let a young lady verbally state, "better to have and not need it" . Another young lady quoted stats in regard to crime, and on purpose focused on women being victims.
Pre - planned for the lights to go out. I mean pitch dark as that day we met in a tiered lecture room with no windows.
Only 4 of us students , had a mini light of some kind on our key ring. In pitch dark the girls in unison " Never know the when or where of life, best to be prepared".
Then we 4 students , pro gun, pro CCW turned on our personal little lights
Illuminating - in more than one sense of the word.
Next class period, more students, even those whom argued against firearms, against CCW...had some kind of flashlight on keyring, in a purse or backpack.
Attraction.
Sometimes the loudest voice heard is the one not uttered.
