Why does Remington shun .308?

I was wondering this today. I am actually not getting a Remington 700 CDL specifically because they dont have it in .308. If they did, I would be willing to dish out the extra 2-300 dollars more than the CZ 550 I'm looking at.

They may not have it in every firearm niche (especially if they are sporting 270, 30-06, 7mm, 300 win mag, etc). Production costs have made alot of companies stream-line their options available.

They carry it in specific firearm types. But I dont think the .308 is going away.. anytime ever.

Step aside from tactical issues, availabitly of surplus ammo, etc, the 308 is just a 30-06 with the potential to be run through a slightly shorter action....if you are willing to give up performance on the heavier loadings.

Same could be said about the .300 wsm versus the 300 WM.

I guess if I were to buy a rifle in .308 today, I'd go with a Tikka or CZ, both of which I would choose over a remington anyway.

yup, and in 5 years people will be saying 'why did everyone stop making the 300wsm!'
