Why don't people seem to use O/U for HD?

SD, I believe you're right about "Outland". I had forgotten that one. Pretty good movie.

I remember C. Norris hitman movie solely due to o/u used in such a manner, very rarely seen in a defensive/offensive configuration or use. I'd like one just to be different.

I have a Chinese o/u I paid $137.50 for, it's very serviceable and if I lived in an area where I couldn't have handguns or short shotguns it would do nicely.

Over-unders have to be cracked open a lot wider for loading/unloading. This makes them slower in a defensive situation.

That's a very good point. Most O/Us except for the least expensive, though, have ejectors which would even things out a lot and maybe even make them faster. I watched a video of Clint Smith shooting various shotguns and over 5 or 6 rounds he appeared to be faster with a single-shot break open with ejector than he was with a SxS coachgun with extractors. 2nd shot speed was clearly with the double, though :D.

For HD, only two shots and expensive.

That says it all in a nutshell.

In a home invasion situation involving multiple perps, I want more than two rounds before having to reload.

I'll be a happy camper with a 7+1 Mossberg 930 SPX. Reliable, affordable and it's hard to argue with 8 rounds of 12-gauge firepower in a semi-automatic shotgun. ;)

I will be buying a Stoeger Outback eventually. I saw one in person and I really liked idea and concept, choke tubes and rifle sights a plus.
