WI: SD police officer's pro-CCW article

I do not believe I deserve special rights because I am a law enforcement officer. I am, and will always be, a citizen first. I believe there are many good members of our communities who are willing to take on extra responsibilities to keep their communities safe and to serve as first responders to stabilize dangerous situations. If they want to step up and be prepared to do their part if it is ever needed, as a police officer, I am thankful for their help.

That restores some of my faith in cops.

Posted that up on my blog and sent a message to the officer who wrote it thanking him.

I do believe most cops see our point of view. They don't have the ability to be everywhere, and frankly that's not what they or the public wants. It's encumbent upon private citizens to help out and help themselves. We just need to get our govts to allow us that basic right.

Want to take odds on whether or not the Milwaukee Journal prints this one before the Assembly vote on Tuesday? Especially after their hit piece they printed today. I hate that rag.

I wish we had officers like that here in South Bend. I have had the pleasure of meeting just about all the officers here. I had a police captain say to my face that the only reason I would own and carry my Ruger P 95 is that I'm a criminal. Yet I'm a son of a lifetime army dad, who was a state trooper, and the simple fact that I have never broken the law, except that speeding ticket in tenn. I forgot that makes me a criminal oh well
