Will it work

I have a 10 or 12 year old Savage M10 in .223. I recently ordered a Bell and Carlson synthetic stock. I didn't notice then that they are for 'heavy barrels'. My Savage is not a heavy barrel model. Will this stock work or did I screw up?

It will work, you'll just have enough gap for a family of squirrels to hide between the barrel and the stock.
