Winchester 1300, Lighter Trigger Possible?

I called a gunshop yesterday about doing a trigger on my Win 1300 20ga pump gun, but they said that it has too much plastic inside to do a trigger job.

Is this entirely true? Because I'm about ready to pitch this gun. Get what you pay for aye? The trigger creeps enormously after about 5lbs, then stops, then holds about another 5 lbs! It is causing far too much position movement to accurately place groups when shooting offhand. The groups look like a vertical line, and this isn't really acceptable out in the woods for me. I think my sweetspot for hunting is 3lbs pull. Possible in this gun?

Call another gun shop.
Inquire at a clay range where these folks have shotgun work done.

Some gunsmiths focus on some platforms and don't care to do other platforms.
Which is fine, as time is money and they have invested in parts and equipment to do those platforms they choose to focus on.

It would best IMO to not be rude about it, instead recommend another gunsmith that does shotgun work.

Have you compared any other 1300's to see if your trigger is normal? I qualified with a 1300 some time ago and that trigger was schweeeet!

I love my 1300 trigger (although I don't shoot it much anymore).

Any decent smith should be able to clean that up for less than $50. It's well worth it, the`1300's a keeper.

My 1300 12 g has about a 3 lb trigger stock, no trigger rework.

You might post your question in the gunsmithing section as well and get suggestions from a couple of good gunsmith's. Some of them have been very helpful to me in the past. My two 1300's were pretty smooth out of the box, and I wouldn't trade either of them for a new 870.

It's actually fairly easy to improve and slick up a winchester trigger as far as pull weight and creep. Getting rid of takeup and overtravel is a different story however.

Alright thanks guys. Last year I do not remember it being like this, so stiff and with so much creep. I'm fairly sure it has something to do with the cold weather compaired to the 50 degree weather I was shooting it in. I will see what I can learn myself to improve the trigger maybe without taking it to a smith.

If I can't make it satisfactory, oh well...I just bought a more worthy gun anyways, a Savage 210.

Have you tried cleaning the trigger group and re lubing it. Cold weather can make some lubes or old lubes pretty stiff.

Probably full of weed seeds & dried factory grease.

I have also seen one that quit working totally.
It had a #6 shot from a leaky reload squashed flat inside the trigger guard.

I would clean it throughly and grease it up with Gun-Slick grease and then see what it feels like.
