Folks,

Does anyone know if the Operating Slide Assembly (numrich part # 1002030) for a tube fed Winchester 77 is a compatible part with the clip fed version?

They have different parts numbers at Numrich, but the photo shown looks the same. I've never seen the inside of the tube fed Win 77. The only info I've got is from an old American Rifleman article on dissasemblely ... is not totally clear, but I think it indicate that Operating Slide assembly hooks into the bolt differently on the Tube vs Clip. But I'm looking for a definitive answer.

I'm trying to replace the part on my father's rifle, he bought it new when growing up in the 50's. I think its a classic design with steel and walnut (okay, the plastic trigger guard gets a pass), but its got a few shortcomings ... namely the thin metal of the cocking handle (operating slide assembly) cracks. I've tried the usual suspects .... numrich, Wisners, Bob's ... and coming up empty on a replacement part.

If anyone knows a source for a the clip fed version or if the tube version piece will work ... I'd be much obliged.
