To anyone:

I have a new but past warranty 94AE that misfires 1 in about 20. Tell me about it. Could there be a headspace problem or is it hammer/firing pin?
I read earlier it could be the primers I use.

If you are reloading for it, the most common cause is not getting all the primers fully seated.

The first strike is cushioned by finishing seating the primer.
Not able to crush the compound against the anvil until it comes to rest against the bottom of the primer pocket.

The second time fires it.

Are you getting a good dent in the primer?
If you are and it misfires, it could be the primers got contaminated with oil or gun cleaning solvent.

I had the same problem around 15 years ago with mine, and it turned out there was a headspacing issue. Barrel was ultimately replaced under warranty, and I never had any more problems with it...

Thanks rcmodel:

I do reload, keep my primers away from tools, oil etc. and have no problem with them in my other calibres. Most are CCI 200 but I have used Remington as well, same problem, I have cleaned and lightly oiled the hammer mechanism, the bolt including the firing pin tube and the pin itself. Think I'll go for a new spring and do some polishing of the spring travel rod. Any further comment?

Incidentally, I belong to the Canadian Firearms Association. We know all about gun registry and the crap that goes with it here. Stand by your 2nd ammendment
