An older member of the gun club owned one of these Winchester 100’s. He sent it in for the firing pin fix and it still slamfired.Short answer, yes you can. But, I would advise staying away from steel case ammo. When practicing, I once had mine "double". A gunsmith who was well aquatinted with 100's told me not to very carefully touch off the shot. Use a firm press instead. They are a great rifle
I had a 88 and 100 in 308 and I understand about the mag. I had to pay $60 for an after market mag. What Captcurt had mentioned is right on. I happen to have a .284 and sorry no it will never be sold. It is my first big game rifle. I have found a number of sites that say they have parts for your .308 and the .243 version but the 284 is almost nonexistent. I've been looking for a second magazine for over two years. Mine still looks new compared to the ones I have found and they still want $75+ for them. I'm the second owner and the original owner never had the pin fixed, nor have I. Although the rifle has only had 60 rounds total down the tube in its life I keep reminding myself to have it done just to be safe.
