Hello all,

I recently acquired a win model 50 in great condition. When I patterned it yesterday the gun failed to cycle some old reloads, but 00 factory buck cycled fine in the action. I grew up shooting my grandfather's well used model 50 and never experienced this problem. Any suggestions as to first steps to take and or potential causes of the problem? I am new to this forum and apologize if this subject has been beat to death already.

Thanks

Does the floating chamber still have the spring and pin which keep the chamber to the rear of the action?

It may very likely just be the old reloads then.

Try some other factory ammo like trap loads and such and see if it works with them.

Don't fix it if isn't broke.

Well I took it out today and with winchester AA had the same jam occur twice in the 5 shots. With the winchester value pack shells and turkey loads after those AA, all functioned, fed, and fired just fine. I think a good cleaning and more rounds thru the action may do the trick.
