For years I have used IMR rifle powders . I currently uses 231 winchester for handguns and love it. I have not gone back to bullseye. In my varmint gun 4350 and 380 seem to work well for accuracy. Does anyone have opinions on Winchester rifle powders for say 243 or 30'06? How about 760 winchester instead of 2400 or 110 for magnum handgun? I read somewere that 110 and 760 are the same?
What would you think if one was considering going to winchester powder exclusively?

From my experience I can't see ever devoting oneself to one brand of powders exclusively. The only Winchester powder I use is 748 and have had great success with it on .222, .223, .30-30, and .300 Savage. I have been told, from numerous sources I consider credible, that 748 is quite temperature sensitive so I have switched to Varget for my high power match .223 loads. My powder inventory includes IMR (4064 and 4250), Winchester (748), Alliant (Unique and Bullseye) and Hogdon (H335, Varget, Benchmark, H4895) but this covers a fairly broad range of calibers, both rifle and pistol.

Ballpowders are a bit on the temperature sensitive side....but that can be compensated for with some time at the range in different conditions. Win 748 is a good choice for both .243 & 30-.06.

I also use 231 for .38Sp & light .357Mag loads. 296 is GREAT for mag loads in .357Mag - 16.0gr with 158gr XTP shoot Great out of my 4" Security Six.............lots of flame, good kick and excellent accuracy! :D

To emphasize what caz223 said, W760 is not comparable to H110. W760 is a slow rifle powder and H110 is a magnum handgun powder. W296 and H110 are so close as to be the same.

No reason you can't standardize on one manufacturers powders if you want to, but, why? All powder manufacturers make enough powders to cover most reloading needs. But, if you don't buy in huge quantities, it's better to use the powder best suited to the application no matter who makes it.

For many many years I used exclusively Winchester powders -- 231 and 296 -- for loading handguns.

I used Red Dot exclusively for shotgun.

And I used IMR exclusively for rifle.

Now days, though, I'm branching out, at least in handguns.

I didn't really like the limits 231 had when loading for hot .41 Magnum and 10mm loads, so I decided to try Accurate No. 7. All I can say is boy am I glad that I did. It's wonderful.

I also picked up a .44 Special, and decided to try Tight Group in it. Haven't loaded anything yet, so I don't know what's in store for me with it.
