I was at Cabelas today and saw what looked like a FN FNAR in camo with Winchester stamped on it. It looked less tactical with no rails on the fore end. Does anyone know what model that is because I cant find anything on it online.

FNAR is basically just a Browning BAR, the Winchester SX-AR is basically just an FNAR. Since FN, Browning and Winchester all basically the same company now they can make the same rifles under the Winchester, Browning or FN brand and make slight cosmetic changes to them to keep them separate. Essentially if you buy an FNAR or SX-AR what you are getting in the end is a Browning BAR in different skin.

Here's a good article on the SX-AR if you want more info on it....

I definitely plan to own an FNAR one of these days but I'm not in any real rush, the SX-AR is probably just as nice as the FNAR but I like the look of the FN version better, it looks meaner:D

Don't know if they still do or not, but FN used to advertise the FNAR as 1MOA or better and would work on it under warranty if it didn't shoot that well, while the Winchester had no such claim. I believe that and the lack of rails were the majority of the price difference.

I have an FN FNAR heavy barrel and it's a nice rifle, though it and the mags are a bit spendy. Only thing I want to change on mine is to add threading and a BattleComp to it.

I saw some of them on sale locally in 30-06 and .300 win mag. I felt very nice especially for $500.00 bucks. I beleive they sold out fast. They had FN's and Brownings too. They
appear to be the same action, but some are hunting style and some are tactical. The Winchester had a shorter forearm. I liked 'em and almost bought one but I'm a little overgunned right now.
