Living here in the corrupt, bankrupt and dysfunctional Land of Lincoln, we are now alone (or soon to be) the only state without any form of concealed carry. Gov. Walker of WI is sure to sign the bill just passed, allowing Wisconsin citizens to begin concealed carry later this fall. Maybe this will finally get something done in IL, but with the same old tired Chicagoans running this state who have opposed concealed carry all along still in charge, it does not seem likely. Recent mob attacks downtown Chicago have actually resulted in some letters to the editor in the Chicago Tribune to be published calling for concealed carry. These have been followed by the same, tired old emotional diatribes of gunfights in the streets, etc., etc. against concealed carry. I fear I will not live long enough to see my freedom to defend myself become law here in IL.

I can't move, I own a farm here. I have spilled too much sweat and blood here to move, and so have the 5 previous generations of my family.
To make matters worse, I understand that my non-res Utah ccw permit is no longer valid for me. grrrrrrrr. Because ILL doesn't have reciprocity with Utah(or any other state), I can't even carry when I leave the state!

Vote 'em all out!!

My dads family grew up in Rockford, I am glad he moved because I like living in Vermont.
Although I actually think that Chicago will get conceal carry soon. I mean within the past two years states have either open conceal carry or changed to carry without a permit. Hold in there it will come.

Yep, Illinois is the last holdout. That's why I won't move back there. I justed moved to Louisiana and plan to get my CCW permit later this year. Before that I lived in Hawaii for 15 years. Now Illinois may not have any provision for concealed carry, but for all pratical purposes, CCW is not an option in Hawaii either. They have may issue, and nobody in the 15 years I lived there was granted if you were just a civilian and you didn't have a job that required CCW.

There is or at least was a movement there to try to get that turned around but the political climate in Hawaii is still against CCW. I truly believe the only reason they even have may issue is that they know no permits will be issued at all.

Sorry guys. Keep fighting. If recent events are any indication..... it will come.

Some of us in Illinois are committed to staying here and fighting until we get CCW. Moving is not always a reasonable option.
I have a farm, a small business, and family including an elderly widowed mother that still lives independant but requires a lot of help from us.

These have been followed by the same, tired old emotional diatribes of gunfights in the streets, etc., etc. against concealed carry. .

The sad and ironic part of that is there are ALREADY gunfights in the streets!

It seems that the gang wars of the 20's and 30's would have shown them something. I guess they still have the mindset that the gangsters and mobs are the only ones that need to be armed besides the LEO'S. What they have never realized is the gangsters and mobsters are always have guns and they will get them anyway they can.

North and South Illinois, Distric of Chicago, etc.
Start a grassroots effort to separate the 95% of Illinois that is good from the 5% (Chicago) that is corrupt.

Secession from Chicago is the only way to true freedom............

When will you stupid "gun nuts" get it through your thick skulls that allowing people to carry guns all the time will result in anarachy? There will be old west shootouts in the streets and building to building war! At the VERY least robbery and murder will skyrocket! Don't forget about the children! The poor defenseless children!

SARCASM.

However, you won't ever see easy CCW laws in any state with low crime rates, high educaction levels and above average incomes like Vermont.

SARCASM.

We all know that most criminals who commit armed robbery and murder are usually first time offenders. Also, they purchased the firearm used in the crime JUST MOMENTS prior from a FFL after passing a background check. I would hate to imagine what would happen if they had to practice and be familiar enough with a gun to pass a state approved test that allowed them carry a gun everywhere. Especially, if it's was hidden under their clothes or something.

(MORE) SARCASM.

Lastly, we all know there is no legitimate reason for an ordinary citizen to carry or even own a firearm. The police are able to prevent every crime. Criminals never harm innocent people. Heck, even hunting is dumb because you can just buy food at the store and there aren't any animals that are overpopulated and cause problems for people and other animals in the area.

(YOU GUESSED IT) SARCASM.

Illinois will get concealed carry (in some form) with the next session. I will wager on this. I say in some form because it could be "may-issue".

.

You guys were close this year, only missed by 6 votes. Good luck!

Perhaps next year, especially with the pressure of being the last state that is not in line with the Constitution and the rest of the Country.

Saying, "We are the only one and we have one of the highest crime rates because of it" isn't a great platform.

Hey Vito, you ain't alone!

Here in the Peoples Republik Of Maryland, we can't carry, and I doubt I'll ever see it in my lifetime. Been that way my whole life. There's an application form for a permit, but it's a waste of time and money unless you have a family member in the State House up in Annapolis.

Carl.

I do have to agree, New Jersey and HI have to reform their laws as well, but the chances of that happening is slim to none. Here's to hope for a REAL change!

I remember when I lived there, it was frustrating as I have always had a concealed carry permit in all the other states where I lived. I'm glad I moved.

ummm hello everybody, i just wanted to remind everyone outside the Empire state that us folk need a few hundred $$, 6 months and up to 3 trips to see the judge, just to be able to OWN a pistol (forget about carrying it anywhere for any reason) thats right, everyone who thinks they have it bad can just look to the east for some good old fashioned bullhockey

I used to live in IL, and it will never get concealed carry (or open carry) as long as the corrupt Democratic Machine (oops, redundant) controls the city of Chicago. So glad I moved a few years ago to a free state.
